Kim Weiskopf
Kim Weiskopf, 62, a TV comedy writer whose credits included "Three's
Company" and "Married . . . With Children," died of pancreatic cancer
Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at his home in Encino.
The son of comedy writer Robert Weiskopf, he launched his career in the
early 1970s. With longtime writing partner Michael Baser, he wrote for
series such as "One Day at a Time," "The Jeffersons" and "Good Times," the
latter show leading to their first staff-writing position.
The writing duo went on to write and produce three seasons of "Three's
Company" before being hired to create the TV series "9 to 5," which was
based on the movie. They then developed an updated, syndicated version of
the '70s series "What's Happening!!" called "What's Happening Now!!"
Among Weiskopf's solo writer-producer credits are "Rachel Gunn, R.N.," "Full
House" and "Married . . . With Children," for which he also supplied the
voice for the Bundys' dog, Buck.
Weiskopf was born in New York City on April 10, 1947, and moved to Los
Angeles in 1952. He was a graduate of Grant High School in Van Nuys and San
Francisco State.
>The son of comedy writer Robert Weiskopf
His father, Bob Weiskopf, died in 2001 in Santa Monica and was a good
friend & comedy writing partner of Bob Carroll Jr and Bob Schiller.
Now Bob Schiller is the only one of the trio left.
Requiescat in pace

And Bob Schiller, incidentally, is the father of SNL veteran Tom

Given his upbringing and his quick, wicked sense of humour I wasn't
surprised to learn he'd gone onto SNL all those years ago. He was
very, very funny and entertaining even as a kid.
