Lois Roets, 84, of Des Moines, passed away Tuesday December 28, 2021 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. A visitation will be held Sunday, January 2, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home Crematory in Urbandale.
Lois was born at home in rural Carroll, Iowa to Charles and Mary (Goecke) Schelle. She was united in marriage to Philip Roets. Lois was a passionate writer and educator teaching many gifted students and teachers...

...She grew up in Breda and graduated from St. Bernard Catholic High School in 1955. After freshman year at College of St. Mary in Omaha, Nebraska, she completed a bachelor’s degree for teaching at Viterbo University in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She mastered in educational psychology at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. The Leadership Training Program for ages 8-18 and Roets Rating Scale for Leadership for ages 10-18 completed her doctorate in education.

As a nun in 1967, Lois met Father Philip G. Roets when he was teaching Biblical studies. They married on June 7, 1969, in Rio, Wisconsin. The Bible was always important to both of them. They were teachers of young students and adults. They were each other’s strong support for research, teaching, writing and publishing in gifted education and Biblical studies. Lois founded Leadership Publishers and dissolved it after 30 successful years. The website www.RoetsNotes.com represented their legacies.

After retiring from schools, Lois helped people write their memoirs. Lois was a member of AERA for educational research, NAGC for gifted education, SBL for Biblical studies and charted member for Women in the Arts...
