The last survivor of the Shetsland gang has died

War veteran Jakob Strandheim, the last survivor of the Shetslandsgjengen
resistance group from World War II, has died at the age of 101.

The 101-year-old died on Friday, he writes Fiskeribladet.

Strandheim participated with the Shetland Gang in more than 50 voyages
across the North Sea during World War II. First on a fishing boat, then
with the KNM Hitra spearfighter, which Norway received from the United
States. The Shetland gang was a resistance group during World War II that
operated in the waters between Shetland, Scotland, and German-occupied
Norway.
