Reportedly a very beautiful sometime model,I've never seen a photo;
she came to prominence appearing in the Trentonian, which happens to
be owned by the same multichain conglomerate that owns my local paper.
Attended Science and Engineering High School in Philadelphia,
planned to get an engineering degree eventually, but was working as a
legal secretary when she got into modelling.
Half Navajo ancestry.
Seven years ago she married, and she had a three-year-old-daughter.
She and her husband went on a cruise, and she met a ship's officer
who got besotted with her...eventually she left her husband for him.
Gave up custody of her child to follow the man to Greece...her mother
thought she was making a big mistake.
It didn't pan out,he was living off her divorce settlement($600K
for her half of a landscaping business she had owned with her husband)
and wanting her to buy him a taxi business, but was about to be drafted.
She was homesick for her little girl, and decided not to marry him after
his constant efforts to control her went too far.
He strangled her,set her body on fire, cut her head off with a hacksaw,
threw the head into the sea and stuffed the body into a suitcase he
sank in a swamp. Then he went to Athens and pretended she had gone
missing there, but when he went to the police with the story they held
him until he confessed and led them to the body.
She was 31.
(Are many Greek men like this?I recall the ones Alexandra Bruce was
involved with before her publicized death, and am sure Sidney Sheldon
drew on that event for his sadistic Greek of MASTER OF THE GAME,who
married and planned to murder an American woman named Alexandra).

That is sickening and horrible. Reminds me of the tragic death of Linda Sobek
(model and ex-LA Radiers cheerleader) who was killed over three years ago by a
photographer who first claimed she was killed in a freak accident in the desert
while on a photo shoot, then after she was missing for several days the sicko
led authorites to Sobek, who was sexually assaulted and strangled to death.
Very sad. My condolences to the Scully family. :(
Her ex has now gone to Greece to collect her body,I fon't think they
found her head.
Indeed. But the Linda Sobek case proved the hypocrisy of media and
the ridiculous blonde fetish in southern California. Similar murders
of Hispanic and black women did not get anywhere near the same amount
of press ; she got the attention because she was white and even more
importantly blonde. California seems to have a really stupid fascination
with blondes. Its part of all that shit that goes back to pre WW2
era, the " cult of the California blonde " which I Find repulsive )
That was the case over a year before with Nicole Brown...the big hoopla of her
death was she was married to OJ. Nicole, like Linda, was a model as well.
Similar murders

With the exception of Selena's murder that same year (1995), that statement
holds true.

I could never figure that out myself. The hype over Linda's and especially
Nicole's murders got way out of hand. But I agree with you 100 percent with
the above statement.

In any case,Julie Scully was NOT a blonde, she took after her Navajo
ancestors(I have now seen a picture,at the Daily News website).
Are dark-haired models who get murdered doomed to less press?
Noted...a more personal shot than the one the Daily News had(in a blue
bikini, climbing out of a swimming pool).
Anyway...horrible what happened to her,and the loss to her family.
She fell for the wrong guy and learned it too late.

True.

In the case of both of those women, it seemed like being a career choice
to enable young gals from the white trash wasteland of Southern Cal's
working class outer suburbia to land wealthy and famous men...

And Selena's murder occurred under stranger circumstances than any of
these.
