She is repored to have killed herself while in prison.
She was 46 years old.

She was released from prison/mental ward, I understand.

Apparently, she threw herself in front a train.

AP excerpt:

HOTCHKISS, Colo. (AP) -- The woman who went to prison for
repeatedly stalking David Letterman committed suicide by kneeling in
front of an oncoming train.
Margaret Mary Ray, 46, left only a phone number to call a friend
who could notify relatives before she died Monday afternoon, Delta
County Sheriff Bill Blair said Tuesday.
``This lady just walked out, knelt and leaned over the track,
and the train couldn't stop,'' Blair said. ``She was killed instantly.''
Letterman said Tuesday: ``This is a sad end to a confused
life.''

Sadder still for the train engineer who had to sit and know what was about
to happen, helpless to do anything about it. I saw a news program last year
about the number of men who were put in this position, and the feeling of
helplessness is overwhelming. Some have changed professions afterward.

Well, I guess the only good thing we can say here is that at least Mr.
Letterman is sleeping easier tonight.

And the stalker's sleeping *really* soundly.

I hadn't read the details before posting my rather flip response
earlier. My dad worked for British Rail and knew a couple of drivers
who'd been in this position. This is before there was such a thing as
post-traumatic counseling, and they ended really screwed up. It wasn't
nice.

Without claiming to be too experienced, it seems to me that there are
two kinds of suicides who jump before trains: those who want to make a
big noise and those who want to be sure. The latter type need to know
that they're affecting more poeple than themselves and those close to
them.

Alfie, Alfie, Alfie. If you REALLY want to see death-on-display and
other grossness of the highest order, then go to
http://www.goregallery.com and I'll bet you'll quickly forget about that
'rotten' other site. I am in no way affiliated with either. I am just a
fan of startling images. Have fun! Ira
