Peter Blunt was born 18 August, 1923, the son of A.G. Blunt and C.M.
Blunt.
Career: joined the Army at the age of 14 in 1937; commissioned into
the Royal Fusiliers; served in the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry
and Royal Scots Fusiliers until 1946; foreign service, 1946-49; Staff
College, 1957; joint Services Staff College, 1963; Royal College of
Defence Studies, 1972; in command of 26 Regiment, Bridging, 1965; GSO
1 Defence Plans, Far East Land Forces, 1968; Commander, RCT 1 Corps,
1970; Deputy Transport Officer-in-Chief (Army) later Transport

Blunt, of Ramsbury, near Marlborough, Wiltshire, was appointed MBE in
1955; GM 1959; and CB in 1978.
He married in 1949, Adrienne, daughter of General T.W. Richardson, by
whom he had three sons, including the Conservative MP for Reigate,
Crispin Blunt, and Oliver Blunt, QC.
The family funeral was held at Swindon Crematorium, Friday 15 August,
2003.
