Professor Domina Eberle Spencer, who has died aged 101, was an American mathematician who was Professor at the University of Connecticut.

Spencer arned her Ph.D. in 1942 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology under the supervision of Dirk Jan Struik.[She worked on electrodynamics and field theory.

Thank a heap for posting this; it's unfortunate more women don't go into any of the multitude of far-beyond-calculus realms of mathematics.

She turned 101 last September,Struik (who also had a September birthday)
lived to be 106...I don't suppose mathematics affects longevity though
Leopold Vietoris(1891-2002) remains the oldest mathematician I'm aware of.
