able to confirm.

My hubby IS a regular in here, and we looked through the many posts, but didn't

CANCER CLAIMS
PROMISING YOUNG SOAP STAR

By MICHAEL STARR and JoANNA ZULLI

FORMER "Family Matters" co-star Michelle Thomas
died Tuesday after a battle with stomach cancer, a
CBS spokesman confirmed yesterday.

The twentysomething Thomas played Steve Urkel's
(Jaleel White) girlfriend Myra for five seasons on
"Family Matters," the popular ABC sitcom that moved
to CBS in its last season.

The series went off the air last year.

Recently, Thomas had been starring in the CBS soap
opera "The Young & The Restless" as Callie, an
aspiring singer and the love interest of Malcolm
(Shemar Moore), with whom Callie had had a previous
love affair.

Thomas also played the role of Justine, Theo's
girlfriend, on NBC's "Cosby Show" and appeared in
"Roseanne" and "Dream Date," a made-for-TV movie
with Clifton Davis, Kadeem Hardison and Tempestt
Bledsoe.

She also appeared in an episode of the ABC series "A
Man Called Hawk" with Avery Brooks.

Thomas' father was a member of the R&B group Kool
& The Gang.

She studied jazz and dance at the Broadway Dance
Center in New York and was crowned Miss
International Queen in 1985.

She made her feature film debut in 1991's "Hangin' with
the Homeboys" and played the lead role in "Betsey
Brown" at the American Music Theatre Festival in
Philadelphia.

Forgive me for not being as hip to bad TV sitcoms as I could be, but
wasn't the character's name Laura Winslow?

I should X-No-Archive this, I don't want this to go down in posterity...
but...
Urkel and the Laura character weren't dating. Perhaps there was some
sort of attraction between the two, I dunno, but Urkel's girlfriend was a
friend of Laura's named Myra. She looked quite young for her age and had
an incredibly high cute factor.

Again, love the dead pool.

Zachary Love asked about Michelle Thomas's character, Myra:

Nope. That was the name of the character Urkel had a crush on, but Myra was
his girlfriend. (Yes, it's confusing, but it's a sitcom. Whaddaya expect?)
