Sir William Peek, 5th Baronet, late Captain, 9th Lancers, of
Loddiswell, Devon, died 14 September, 2004, aged 84.

William Grenville Peek was born 15 December, 1919, the son of Capt.
Roger Grenville Peek, of the 9th Lancers (who died, killed on duty in
Ireland, in 1921), by his wife the Hon. Joan Penelope Sclater-Booth
(who died in 1976), daughter of the 2nd Lord Basing.

The baronetcy was created in 1874, for Henry William Peek, who sat as
MP for Mid Surrey from 1868 to 1884.

He succeeded to the baronetcy on the death of his cousin, Sir Francis
Henry Grenville Peek, in 1996.

He married in 1950, Lucy Jane, daughter of Major Edward Dorrien-Smith,
DSO, of Weir Point, Restronguet, Cornwall, by whom he had one son,
Richard, and three daughters, Jane, Mary and Kate.

He is succceeded in the baronetcy by his only son, Richard Grenville
Peek, who was born 3 February, 1955.

The funeral is at St Michael and All Angels, Loddiswell, Devon, 24
September, 2004.
