It shocks and saddens me to learn this. Although I never had the
pleasure of working with Dylan, I have meet him on a couple of
occasions and found him extremely affable and delightfully witty. His
presence on NZ television will be missed. RIP

DYLAN TAITE DIES
One of New Zealand's best known television journalists has died.
Dylan Taite was best known for his quirky music and entertainment
industry stories.
He first appeared on screen in 1970.
He slipped into a coma on Wednesday and died peacefully at his home in
Auckland on Wednesday night.
TVNZ Head of News and Current Affairs Heaton Dyer says Dylan Taite's
passing marks the loss of a unique talent, and a friend.
"Dylan was a real character, a person who has left his mark and had an
enduring influence on television in New Zealand."
Broadcasting Minister Steve Maharey has also paid tribute to the
veteran rock journalist.
Maharey says Taite made an enormous contribution to broadcasting.
He says he will be sadly missed by television and the music industry
as well as viewers who saw him interview the cream of both national
and international talent over many years.
Friends say one of Taite's most important interviews was with reggae
star Bob Marley, filmed as Marley played soccer during a visit to
Auckland in the late 1970s.
It was one of the most comprehensive interviews Marley ever agreed to.
Documentary makers and music historians seeking information on the
life of the dead Jamaican superstar seek footage from the interview
out to this day.

That's a shock. I always enjoyed his pieces. Was it Nightline? on
Fridays with Marcus Lush, great stuff... Didn't know he was ill but was
wondering what he was up to these days. Sad.
