Son Of KMBC Staffers Dies After Gun Accident

The Channel 9 family has suffered a great tragedy this week. KMBC
anchor/reporter Maria Antonia and photojournalist Tim Twyman lost their
oldest son Thursday.

Wednesday evening, Tyler accidentally discharged a gun at their home
and was mortally wounded.

Tyler was active in his church, was a proud member of the Orrick High
School football team and was an honor student. He and his younger
brother occasionally contributed to KMBC news broadcasts and were
nominated for an Emmy for their efforts. Tyler was 14 and an organ
donor.

Channel 9's thoughts and prayers are with the family at this very
difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions
be made to the Midwest Transplant Network or Children's Mercy Hospital.
