Here is more details regarding Gordy's death.

From The Pro Wrestling Torch:

Terry Gordy, age 40, found dead in his home Monday morning

Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy, age 40, was found dead inside his home by his girlfriend
on the morning of July 16. Gordy, considered the most talented worker of the
Fabulous Freebirds tag team in the ’80s, had worked sporadically in recent
years, including an indy show in Indiana this past weekend. He returned home to
Chattanooga and was found dead on Monday morning.

Gordy started wrestling professionally in his early teens and also became a
headliner at an early age. He is best known for his run with Michael Hayes and
Buddy Roberts as the Freebirds. The threesome's biggest feud was with the Von
Erichs in World Class Championship Wrestling, but the group also worked in
Georgia, Bill Watts's UWF, the AWA, briefly in the WWF and WCW, and other
territories.

Gordy was also a legend in Japan where he and Steve "Dr. Death" Williams were
among All Japan’s top tag teams. Considered by many to be one of the best big
men of the '80s, Gordy suffered a stroke caused by a drug overdose that left
him in a coma in 1993. When he woke from the coma, he was never the same
mentally or in the ring as a performer.

In recent years, Gordy worked a few dates for ECW and also had a brief stint in
the WWF as The Executioner, a masked wrestler who feuded with Undertaker.

Gordy visited with WWF wrestlers at least week's Smackdown tapings in
Birmingham, Ala. He appeared to be in good health and good spirits.

Michael Hayes, who works as a road agent in the WWF, worked Raw on Monday
despite mourning the death of his longtime partner and friend.

Gordy had been ill for some time. Buddy Roberts is also in poor health, or so
I understand.

Only 40 years old!

RIP
