BOERNE — One month after Air Force Col. Philip Shue died in a car
wreck, mystery still surrounds the circumstances preceding the fatal
crash on Interstate 10.
Shue, 54, reportedly left his Boerne home at 5:30 a.m. April 16 bound
for Wilford Hall Medical Center, where he had been a staff
psychiatrist since July 2001.
But witnesses spotted his 1995 Mercury Tracer veering off the pavement
while headed west on I-10 — away from the medical center — before it
hit two trees at 8:15 a.m.
Emergency responders reported finding duct tape on the wrists and
boots of Shue, leading his widow to theorize that he fell victim to
foul play that morning.
"He was definitely abducted and taken somewhere," Tracy Shue said
