I just realized, how can someone be cinematographer on "Taxicab
Confessions"? Isn't the camera supposed to be hidden in the taxi?

You're confusing the cinematographer with the camera
operator. The cinematographer makes all the decisions (with
the director) about lighting and lenses and the look of the
scene. The cinematographer often operates his/her own
camera, but not always.

Oddly enough, Achs' wife was an old friend of the family,
with whom we had lost touch.

Did you know that an episode of Confessions was the genesis for the
subway episode of Homicide?

Yeah, but someone has to hide it.

This show started out interesting, but now it's painfully obvious that
it's as phony as can be!! (Though I do like to see folks makin' out
while the taxi driver pretends to be shocked)
