The news has propagated slowly,but I verified from japantoday.com
that Tsuneyo Toyonaga (born May 21st 1894) died February 22nd 2008.
She was the oldest living person in Japan (a distinction probably
inherited by Kaku Yamanaka) and only three or four people (I still
want to see a further cite on Gertrude Baines) are older.
