Robert M. Dunn Jr. GWU Professor
Robert M. Dunn Jr., 71, an economics professor at George Washington
University who specialized in international exchange rates, died of
complications from metastatic cancer Feb. 18 [2010] at George Washington
University Hospital. He was a Chevy Chase resident.
Dr. Dunn moved to the Washington area in 1966 as an expert on exchange rates
for the Federal Reserve Board. He joined the GWU faculty in 1968 and taught
international economics. He wrote widely about the topic and published a
textbook in 1993.
He consulted for various government organizations and was hired by the U.S.
Information Agency to give lectures on capitalism and the American economy
to banks and governments around the world. In 1996, he was a visiting
professor at Charles University in Prague.
Robert Martin Dunn Jr., a native of Binghamton, N.Y., was a 1960 graduate of
Williams College in Williamstown, Mass. He received a master's degree and
doctorate in international economics from Stanford University.
He was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church in the District.
His marriage to the former Charlotte Page ended in divorce.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, the former Helena Ouradova, of Chevy
Chase; three sons from his first marriage, Charles Dunn and William Dunn,
both of the District, and John Dunn of Bethesda; two stepchildren, Maarten
Troost of Monterey, Calif., and Kajka Troost of Rockville; and nine
grandchildren.
