SIR HARDY AMIES, KCVO
Queen Elizabeth II was represented by Lord Faringdon at a service of
thanksgiving for the life and work of Sir Hardy Amies, Dressmaker by
Appointment to The Queen, held on 17 July, 2003, at St James's,
Piccadilly.
Princess Michael of Kent was represented by Mrs Julian
Kitchener-Fellowes.
The Rev Dr Charles Hedley, Rector, officiated, assisted by the Rev
Richard Harrison, Vicar of St Matthew's, Langford, who said prayers.
Mrs J. Enoch Powell read the lesson. Mr Derek Granger read an extract
from The World of Interiors written by Hardy Amies. The Duchess of
Devonshire read extracts from an interview with Sir Hardy by Mr Naim
Attallah, published in Of a Certain Age by Quartet Books. Lady Selina
Hastings gave an address.
