The Baroness Dudley, 14th holder of the peerage, of Kempsey,
Worcestershire, a water-colour artist, died at her home, 27 May, 2002,
aged 95.

Lady Dudley's ancestor, John Sutton, of Dudley, who was born in 1400,
was Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, and was summoned to Parliament as a
Baron by writ directed to *Johanni de Sutton de Duddeley militi* from
14 Feb. 1439-40 to 15 September, 1485.

Lady Dudley was born Barbara Amy Felicity Lea-Smith, 23 April, 1907,
the eldest child of Ferdinando Dudley William Lea-Smith (1872-1936),
by his wife Sybil Augusta Coventry, scion of the Earls of Coventry.

Barbara had a younger brother, Ferdinando Dudley Henry, who was born
in 1910.

The Barony of Dudley had been in abeyance since the death of the 11th
Baron in 1757, and Barbara's father succeeded as 12th Baron on the
termination of the abeyance of that barony in his favour, and was
summoned to Parliament by writ dated 9 May, 1916.

The 12th Baron died in 1936, and Barbara's sibling inherited the
family honours as 13th Baron. Lord Dudley was married, but childless,
and with his demise, 19 April, 1972, the ancient peerage passed to his
only sister.

Lady Dudley married firstly, in 1929, Guy Raymond Hill Wallace, (died
1967), the youngest son of General Hill Wallace, CB, (1823-99), Royal
Horse Artillery, of Astley, Worcestershire.

Lady Dudley married secondly, in 1980, Charles Anthony Crosse
Hamilton.

She was an artist (floral water-colours) and exhibited at the Royal
Watercolour Society.

She leaves four children from the first marriage (three sons and one
daughter), and the peerage now passes to her eldest son, the Hon. Jim
Anthony Hill Wallace, who is 71-year-old, and married with two sons.

The funeral service takes place at St Denys's Church, Severn Stoke, 31
May, 2002, at 11 a.m.

Where is longtime ATR pioneer stalwart John "Baron of Dudley" Coo?

I thought this line became extinct when Robert Dudley (Elizabeth I's beau
and minion) had only a son from a morganatic relation, who iirc was an
engineer and became unnerved by talk of him so as to move to Italy.

Does anyone know of the genealogy after Robert?
