The website "The Dead Rock Stars Club" ( http://www.thedeadrockstarsclub.com/2009b.html
)lists him as having died on July 23, but I cannot find any other
sources. He is also listed on the Wikepedia "Deaths in 2009" list,
but his wikipedia entry does not show his death.

Hmmm....do we smell another imposter?

Three days is a long time for no official obit.

The official Sha Na Na website has nothing except an imposter
warning. Maybe an imposter died?:
http://www.shanana.com/faq.htm
"Dirty Dan" Mc Bride is staying busy in Hollywood as
an actor, voice-over artist, singer and guitarist. He
maintains an active website. Also beware of Danny
of Sha Na Na imposters. Danny McBride was the
ONLY Danny ever to be part of Sha Na Na.

Here's one, but there's not even a mention of where he
supposedly died....just "in his sleep". No confirmation.

I don't know anything about that, but McBride's web site credits him as
the group's lead guitarist, not lead singer. Wasn't Jon "Bowzer" Bauman
the lead singer in their heyday?

No result from a search of the LA Times Obits:

http://tinyurl.com/mwfrw5

for either Danny McBride or his real name Daniel Hatton for the past 30
days.

He's sporadic, although the last few *were* on Saturdays
(the 17th also has a date of the 18th).

Apparently, his real name is/was "Daniel Hatton McBride"....
so there's lots of possibilities he could be listed under.

Funny, I thought that John "Bowser" Baumann was the lead singer of
Sha-Na-Na.

Oh - that's easy. It was Karl Malden who convinced Club
Nouveau to interject "we be jammin'..." into their version of
"Lean on Me".

Today, July 26th, I received a Facebook note from Danny's wife that he
had passed away. Both Danny and his wife Susan were classmates of mine
at Reading Memorial High School, Reading, MA. Quite obviously, it
takes a while for the factual information to make it's way into
Wikipedia.

I'm still curious why the death hasn't been mentioned on any of
the reputable news sites.

I tried to update his wikepedia page today, but the person who locked
the page said that a paid obituary isn't considered a reliable
source.

Well....he DID really die, there was a death certificate and all
that. The only problem was his claim that his stage name
was Rich Williams.....that, and the POW claim.

I remember when Jon "Bowzer" Bauman appeared as a panelist on Match
