Lady Dugdale was appointed a Temporary Woman of the Bedchamber to the
Queen in 1955, and held that post until 1960 in which year she was
appointed Extra Woman of the Bedchamber. She served HM in this
capacity until 1972 when she became a Woman of the Bedchamber. Who's
Who states that Lady Dugdale was Lady-in-Waiting to the Queen,
1985-2002. She was a member of the Household in attendance on Queen
Elizabeth II when she made her historic state visit to Russia in 1994.
She was born 4 November, 1923 as Kathryn Edith Helen Stanley, daughter
of the Rt Hon Oliver Stanley, PC, MC, MP, the Conservative MP
[1896-1950] & scion of the Earls of Derby, by his wife, Lady Maureen
Vane-Tempest-Stewart [d. 1942] a daughter of the 7th Marquess of
Londonderry.
She married John Robert Stafford Dugdale in 1956. They had met at a
New Year's Eve Ball. He was the younger son of Sir William Dugdale,
Bt, scion of a family which had made its fortune in coal. After the
marriage her husband bought Tickwood Hall at Much Wenlock in
Shropshire. He served as Lord Lieutenant of Shropshire from 1975, and
was appointed KCVO in the New Year's Hons List 1994. He died 12
December, 1994, aged 71.
She served in the WRNS during World War 2; was appointed CVO in 1973,
and advanced to DCVO in 1984; she was appointed Cdr of the Royal Order
of the North Star of Sweden in 1956 when the Queen paid a state visit
to that Kingdom.

[iii] Mary Dugdale, b. 1961.
[iv] Henry Stratford Dugdale, b. 1963, m. 1991, Adi Litia Cakobau
Mara, daughter of the President of Fiji and Paramount Chief of Lau.
