Italian painter and sculptor Luciano Minguzzi, whose works
adorn Saint Peter's basilica in the Vatican and Milan's
cathedral, died in Milan Sunday, less than a week after his
93rd birthday, ANSA news agency said.

Minguzzi, who was born in Bologna and died at a Milan
hospital, taught at the famous Brera art academy for more
than 20 years until 1975.

His works are on show at a large number of museums in Italy
and around the world.

Minguzzi's so-called Fifth Door at Milan's cathedral was put
up in 1965, while his bronze "Door of Good and Evil" at
Saint Peter's was presented to Pope Paul VI in honour of his
80th birthday in September 1977.

It develops the theme of the ancient conflict between Good
and Evil.
