CHADDS FORD, Pa. - Ann Wyeth McCoy, a painter, pianist and composer
from one of America's most famous art families, has died. She was 90.
McCoy was the daughter of artist and illustrator N.C. Wyeth and sister
of painter Andrew Wyeth. She died Thursday of a heart attack, said
Jennifer Maguire, a spokeswoman at the Brandywine River Museum, which
has close ties to the Wyeth family.
The Philadelphia Orchestra performed one of her compositions in 1934,
when she was 19 years old. Other compositions of hers were performed by
the Kennett Symphony, the Germantown Symphony and the Main Line
Symphony, among others.
She continued to compose music and paint until her death.
In 1935, she married John W. McCoy II, an artist and former student of
her father's and they lived in Chadds Ford. They had three children:
John Denys McCoy of Nogal, N.M.; Anna Brelsford McCoy of Chadds Ford
and Maude Robin McCoy of West Chester.
She is also survived by four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
