Nancy Parsons, 58, character actress remembered as the sexually
repressed gym teacher in the early 1980s films "Porky's" and its
sequels. A native of Minnesota, she began acting in 1977, making her
motion picture debut in "I Never Promised You a Rose Garden" and in the
television film "Mary Jane Harper Cried Last Night." She went on to
appear in several movies on both the large and small screens and in such
television series as "L.A. Law" and "The Pretender." Parsons
occasionally delved into local theater, including "Four Legs Good" at
Theatre East in Studio City in 1991, when a Times reviewer described her
acting as "glowingly Earth Mother-like." But Parsons was most memorable
as arch-villainous Beulah Balbricker of the three "Porky's" high school
romps. Through the first two films, she was the strident gym teacher in
gut-popping shorts terrorizing the teenage heroes, and in the third, far
thinner, the actress became a sex symbol. On Friday in LaCrosse, Wis.,
after a long illness.
Can anyone confirm this and where is it being reported and where on
the web can I read about it? Thank you!

Although I'm not a big fan of Porkey's (much less the sequels, which I
didn't see), she did have the best scene by far in the movie, where she's
explaining to the principle (with the two male gym teachers trying
desperately not to lose it in the background) that she could identify the
shower room villian if she could just be allowed to look at all the male
student's penises to identify the offending member...
You know, it suddenly occurs to me that, despite being a critical whipping
boy, Porkey's is probably a much funnier, better written, and less
cretinous film than most of the films starring Adam Sandler (and all the
ones starring Pauly Shore or Chris Farley). This suggests that stupid
films are getting stupider as time goes on...

The first "Porky's" is wonderfully, grossly funny. The scene where
Balbricker tries to persuade the principal to let her inspect the
students is the longest sustained bellylaugh I can think of in movies.
*And* it's a long scene without cuts, which was really the only way it
was going to work. The scene is a masterpiece. Nancy Parsons made it
work, she was terrific, and God rest her.
I hated this movie and never saw any of the sequels, but I can concur
that Parsons' key scene was pretty hilarious. Stupid material made
memorable by a great performance.

100% concurrence on the Pauly Shore call, but I have found some
redeeming features in a couple of Adam Sandler and even Chris Farley
movies. Almost all of them come from the supporting casts, however.

I loved that scene. It is exactly 1 hour into the movie. I remember the
first time I saw it (on HBO or Showtime) I was laughing uncontrollably hard
and had to cover my mouth because I didn't want to miss hearing any of the
dialog. I don't know that I have ever seen anything else as funny as that
one scene.
By the way, I'm surprised she was only 58. That means she was only about 39
when that movie was made. I thought she looked older than that. She had a
great delivery. RIP Nancy.
