Kitten Natividad, NOT DEAD, but ill

DUARTE, CA - Cult fetish film star Kitten Natividad will undergo a double mastectomy next
Monday at City of Hope Hospital here.
Seen most recently in the VCA video Café Flesh 2, Natividad first achieved renown as the
protégé of B-movie director Russ Meyer in the 1970s, including Up. Longtime friend Rob
Schaffner confirmed Natividad's illness and forthcoming surgery.
"She didn't know how to tell Russ," Schaffner tells AVN. "It was something she'd kept
hidden from him - and from her fans - for a long time. But she'd grown so sick she
couldn't hide it any longer."
But when Meyer did learn the news at last, he was said to be "absolutely heartbroken".
"He just went into his room and locked the door behind him because he didn't want us to
see him cry," Schaffner says.
Natividad had been receiving chemotherapy despite having no health insurance. She lost
weight dramatically as a result because she could not keep food down.
Schaffner says the star was terrified of losing her breasts - at one point asking him and
his wife, Chris, to just let her die - but the Schaffners refused.
"She's concerned her fans won't care for her anymore, which is ridiculous, because they
love her regardless and would only want to see her healthy again," Schaffner says.

I'm reminded of Ann Jillian, who was the "blonde pinup character" in "It's
a Living", and she went a double mastectomy. Ann can act pretty well, with
a good string of TV movies.

Ann Jillian is still a terrific actress. She had even returned to "It's A
Living" for its first season of syndication before relinquishing the lead
role in the show to Barrie Youngfellow. Ann, of course, had special wardrobe
alterations; a little off-putting to seeing Barrie, Gail Edwards and Crystal
Bernard displaying generous cleavage and Ann with a neckline some five
inches higher than the rest of the girls. Ann still gets a TV-movie lead
every once in a while.
Now, for Francesca Kitten Natividad... when you're a big-bosomed adult star,
what happens to the career when the breasts disappear?

I thought it was Ms. Lopez's remarkably round, smooth and pleasnatly
shaped hinder was the insured body part. I could be wrong.
Ms. Natividad's career has been on the wane for at least a decade; very
few porn stars keep working past the age of 40.

I haven't seen her adult films, but I have seen her Russ Meyer movies and some
of her mainstream movie appearances. She may be most famous for her physical
attributes, but she's also a pretty amusing comedic actress. (A friend of mine
once sang the praises of her guest appearance on the short-lived TV show "The
Adventures of Beans Baxter," but I didn't see that myself.) I believe she has
sufficient talent to continue her career in that direction...whether it's
enough to overcome her reputation as a porn star, I don't know.
