WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Jack Cole, an Emmy-award winning television
journalist who became a feisty radio talk show host calling himself the
``Inquisitor General,'' died Tuesday of brain cancer. He was 63.

The three-time national Emmy winner for investigative reporting anchored
television news in New York, St. Louis, Philadelphia and Boston before moving
to Florida in 1983.

He won two Emmys at Boston's prestigious WGBH public television station for his
narration on a show about Reaganomics and a report on the shipment of
contraband artillery to Africa. He won his first Emmy while covering politics
for Metromedia from 1968 to 1970.

Cole once was known as the ``Bad boy of Boston journalism.'' Breaking for a
commercial as anchor for WNAC-TV, he said, ``We'll be back with more alleged
news in a moment.''

This post on 10 Jan 2002 06:58:43 GMT would probably sound more commanding if Ed Varner wasn't wearing the Yummy Sushi Pajamas:

Liberal but honest; he was very tough on Clinton and thought he was scum.
