SYDNEY, N.S. - Allan MacDougall, who, along with Hughie MacKenzie,
made up half of the Cape Breton comedy duo Hughie and Allan, has died
at his home in Sydney. He was 89.
MacDougall had several health problems, including Alzheimer's disease.
MacDougall and MacKenzie started their routine during the Second World
War.
They went from stage to radio and eventually TV, becoming regular
performers on the Don Messer Show and the Tommy Hunter program. They
recorded a number of best-selling comedy albums and toured the country
on a regular basis.
MacDougall retired after Mackenzie's death in 1983.
His funeral will be held Friday in Sydney.
