IWA PUERTO RICO PROMOTER VICTOR QUINONES PASSES AWAY

PRWrestling.com is reporting that IWA Puerto Rico promoter Victor
Quinones was found dead at his home this morning. No further details
are available.

Quinones has been a fixture in the Puerto Rico wrestling scene for the
last 30+ years. He was one of the original owners of the World
Wrestling Council when it was founded in 1974.

He ended up leaving the company after the death of Bruiser Brody and
made numerous attempts to start up a competitor on the island. He was
finally successful with IWA, which displaced WWC as the top company in
Puerto Rico.

from the wrestling observer:

Quinones found dead
by Dave Meltzer

Victor Quinones, the owner of IWA Puerto Rico, was found dead this
morning at the age of 46. Quinones was at the IWA show last night and
nothing appeared out of the ordinary. Police are at the home right now
and have said it was a death of natural causes, believed to be in his
sleep.

These numbers don't add up --

So he would have been a 14-year-old part-owner of the WWC?

I noticed that. It does seem that he was indeed 46 years old. He
founded IWA in 1994. I am guessing that he was not part of the WWC
when it was founded in 1974. When I get the next issue of the
wrestling observer in the mail, it will probably have a long bio & obit
on Quinones and should clear up any discrepancies. The WWC was where
Bruiser Brody was murdered back in 1988, so I am sure that Dave
Meltzer's obit will include any time Quinones was part of that
organization.
