Who's the dead Dexy's Midnight Runner?

Back in 1988 or so I remember reading that a band member of Dexy's Midnight
Runner killed himself, a wrist slashing if I remember right. I think I saw it
in Rolling Stone. Anyone have his name and what he played in the band and if
he appeared in the Come On Eileen video, which to my knowledge, was the only
video the group ever made. I know they made a second CD and that Kevin
Rowland, the lead singer who is still alive, was arrested for trying to steal
his session tapes from the studio before he paid for the session tape-busted as
the studio people sat on him on the sidewalk and called the police. I don't
know if he was stealing tapes for the second or third album or if those tapes
ever made the light of day. Any info? Thanks.

Not quite - the first lp 'Searching for the young soul rebels' is the
one in question.

Kevin R took the tapes of the sessions from it's producer Pete
Wingfield, who was finalising the mixes, and refused to release them
until EMI renegotiated the band's contract on better terms, because he

felt they'd been ripped off.

No idea about the death though, I don't recall it, and can't find any
record.

Vincent Crane (keyboardist, joined DMR later, also associated with Atomic Rooster) killed himself in 1989, overdose. On Anedrine I think?

You might also like to know that Dexy's Midnight Runners played on "The Young Ones" in 1982. Episode 4, Season 1. They played "Jackie Wilson Said".
