For several years he was EVERYWHERE on cable (at least after
midnight).... yet one day, POOF!, his sweaters, phony enthusiasm and goofball
personality had vanished from the infomercial universe! (If only that entire
sub-sector of our marketing-saturated society would disappear as well...)

I'm betting ol' Mike Levy is just counting his money somewhere on Long
Island, but does anyone know for sure if he's alive and healthy?

Hoping I'll never do a radio infomercial just to remain on the air,

unfortunately, mike the sweater man passed away last year of cancer.

closest i could find for his obit:
http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_hb267/is_200309/ai_hibm1G1109846354

i used to remember his "ask mike" shows. the one that really sticks in
my mind was this one for this kit called Mathemagics (or something like
that) that supposedly gave you the power to do incredibly hard
arithmetic in your head in a matter of seconds. hence, MATH-E-MAGIC!
ha-ha-ha ... oh boy. i think the other dude shilling it on the show
was infomercial king kevin trudeau.

I remember 60 Minutes once did a profile on Mike Levey.

He died August 2, 2003; IIRC it was cancer. .A google search found a number of
stories on his passing:

I remember the Simpsons episode when Krusty the Clown lost his TV show gig and
volunteered to appear in a hemmorhoid infomercial.

Well, I was hoping against hope Mr. Levey would be banished from the
airwaves, but I sure didn't want to see him die young!

Sincerely,

I'm not wishing death on her, but that woman who plays dumb in the kitchen
implement infomercials drives me nuts.

You talking about Nancy Nelson (the blonde former LA news anchor) or Kathy
whatshername, the somewhat portly, short lady who specializes in utensils and,
years ago, one of those non-Foreman burger cookers? If you mean the latter,
she's hardly one who plays dumb; indeed, she's billed as a kitchen EXPERT!

IIRC the lady is middle-aged+, blondish, and fairly petite & skinny.
