The father of the movie director Andrew Davis, Nate Davis had many
credits in Chicago theater, beginning in the 1970s. His myriad
appearances include "The Grapes of Wrath, "Denial" at Apple Tree
Theatre (far left with Mike Nussbaum), "Fool for Love" and "Picasso at
the Lapin Agile" at the Steppenwolf Theatre, "The Iphigenia Cycle" at
Court Theatre and "Buried Child" at Northlight Theatre. He was also in
Mary Zimmerman's production of "The Trojan Women" at the Goodman
Theatre.
Mr. Davis also had an extensive career in film and television.
But anyone who has followed the theater in this town will recall the
mixture of poigance, honesty and dignity he brought to all his work.
He was a character actor who appeared in dozens of film and TV roles:
