Still using trn3.6, so it only shows up when there's something here.

Similarly, GNUS only shows groups in which there are new or saved (marked)
messages. New messages are indicated by the number there are; groups with
marked posts only have an asterisk and a count of 0.

Tin can do that too, other than your last clause. I have tin set to
show all subscribed groups, though.

dman (has lots of saved messages in the p* groups)
