The Norse gods are at present getting a media outing, though it's in a
form that I doubt will warm the hearts of Odinists.

There is a television program playing in Japan right now by the title
Matante Loki Ragnarok and yes it is anime.

It details the adventures of Loki who has been exiled to Earth by Odin,
he has decided to spend this exile as a 10 year old Japanese boy who
works as a detective (a job opportunity that seems to be wide open to 10
year olds in anime world)

He divides his time between solving mysteries, dealing with the rampant
evil spirit problem on Earth, and interacting with other Norse gods and
goddesses who show up from time to time.

The series is very much in the style of Dragon Ball, Inu Yasha, and
other hyperactive comedy / adventure / fantasy anime.

So far Frey, Freya, & Heimdall have been used as characters as has the
Brising Necklace and they are only up to episode 5 or so.

You can have a look at some of them at the site below. Loki is the one
at the top of the page (!!) and Heimdall is the one at the bottom.

Somehow I never put cute with a capital C U T E together with the Norse
Gods.

But that's just me for you.

Well then you've never seen Ah! My Goddess (Oh My Goddess!)
wherin the Norns are main characters. Verdandi becomes the
love interest of a student, while Urd & Skuld scheme to make
sure he's up to the task. But for the extra kawaii (cute)
factor, you'd have to see the Ah! My Goddess, Mini-Goddess
Adventures, where the Norns are all drawn extra small (chibi)
and cute and run around with a mouse, who is then about the
same size as the rest of them.

Interesting. Did they make any reference to the Brising being the Milky
Way, or did they treat it as a piece of jewelry?

As Chris pointed out there were the norns in Ah (or Oh as some say) My
Goddess.

which can been seen at the site below:

http://web.cs.mun.ca/~anime/afs/amg.html

As for the rest of the characters I have found a page that has an
English translation about them, while the anime is new it is based on a
Manga (comic book) that has been around for a while:

http://www.geocities.com/meitanteiheiji/lcast.html

I have never seen any of the programs, this is just what I have been
able to find here and there.
