How about "Candide" by Voltaire?
She would be a heroine, though. The question asked about heroin. Of
course, I expect that talking about heroin's life is ambivalent (at
best) by nature. Maybe _Gone With the Wind_ qualifies, if it's
"heroine" after all.

... Heroin is a drug, unless I"m missing a terribly subtle joke on your
part.
Either Cunegonde (the 'heroine' in Candide) or Candide (the protagonist,
if not necessarily hero) would qualify for the requirements.
