In a Greek mythology class I'm taking, a slide was shown of Apollo and
one of his lovers (I'm pretty sure that it was either Cyparissus or
Hyacinthus). This is not the painting of Apollo standing, holding
Hyacinthus after he dies. I was hoping that someone has some idea of what
I'm talking about and can either mail me the picture, tell me where I can
find it, or tell me the name of it and/or the artist.
Thanks..
Jennifer

You could start with the Univ. of Haifa resources at:
http://www-lib.haifa.ac.il/www/art/mythology_westart_apollo.html

I have a considerable number of other bookmarked Apollo images
but I'll need a better description of the painting you're looking for.

Or if you have access to a good library, try to find works by
Francois Lissarrague (specialist in classical iconography and
neoclassical art).

Of course if those don't help, try any of the art history books
you can find in your local or school library. A browse through
those may get you the name and artist of the painting you seek.
