Frequently Asked Questions about Role-Playing on
Alt.Mythology.Mythic-Animals (V3, since the last I've seen was number 2.10.
I didn't save the entire FAQ, so this is just the part I have saved. I've
salvaged it that it may serve again. It may grow, as others contribute it.)

This World is Amma.

CONTENTS:
1.) Posts dealing with the role playing should be preceded by RP in the
subject. Not everyone wants to play our games, so be courteous to them and
use the prefix.

2.) What can I be? Is anything prohibited?
You can be pretty much anything you want to be. Several dragons,
centaurs, fey creatures, gryphons and the like haven been seen roaming
around, but you can invent your own mythical creature if you want. We have
a few humans on the loose, but since this is a
mythical-animal NG, they might not be reacted to as well as they'd like. If
you want your persona to be a human, that's fine. Just be prepared for the
mythics to view your persona with a bit of hesitation; most of the
characters have had problems with humans in the past, but once they get to
know you things should be fine.

3.) Wait a minute, did you say "rules"?!
Yep, there are a couple of rules that all the mythical creatures are
expected to follow while they're in the Realm. Mostly it's just common
courtesy issues. Don't eat any fellow guests. (Food isn't hard to come by,
so you shouldn't really need to eat anyone anyway!) Be
polite. And save the violent actions for when we go off to fight bad guys.
Pretty simple stuff, no?

4.) Ok, so what's this "Realm" place? Do I have to be from there?
The Realm is where all the role-playing takes place.
Basically, any type of geography that you want to be there is there. We've
got forests, lakes, mountains, volcanoes, and an ocean in the near vicinity.
Along the borders of the Realm is an evil human wizard by the name of Norak
who wants to take over the Realm and enslave the mythical creatures there.
Your persona can be from anywhere. Many of us are from other places
than the Realm and just happened to wander in, one way or another. If you
don't want to be from the Realm, your character can teleport in, get sent
there by a teleport spell going slightly haywire, or just be the victim of
fate. It really doesn't matter to us how you end up in the Realm.

5.) Well, what characters are in the Realm? Who and what are they?
Glad you asked. There used to be a myriad creatures in the Realm,
but lately very few have been seen. It is known that a large group of them
have been involved in a fight with Choas itself, in volcano that was on the
verge of eruption. Maybe many did not survive. but it appears some did. The
following account holds only those beings that have been seen recently,
though desciptions of past denizens are available, too. If you want to know,
ask by a post in the group.

Here's a brief description of who's who in the Realm, as far as they have
been recently seen - if anyone disagrees with the description of their
character, then tell me what you want me to say.

Lord Tu'lari Lodhapna (Malecentaur): called the Diplomat of Worlds, a
bringer of peace. Lodhapna is his given name, meaning "Strong in Soul". His
other name is "Tadhg" which means "philosopher; seeker of wisdom". It is
his "secret" name in that no one knows it save for him, his goddess, and
Akilah (picked it up when he brought her back to life).

A brave man, who carries no weapons--never has--and yet ventures into far
lands even paladins would fear to walk... a being, mostly elven, short by
most elvish standards, hair half-black, half-gold, carrying a staff carved
with symbols of Peace from many races, times, and places: the Rod of Unison.

Max (Rozberk): A small invisible demon who helps (and hinders) the running
of
the Inn.

Melchior Caducifer (Malecentaur):

Copper-coloured centaur, with chestnut eyes. Long, free flowing hair. Like
most centaurs, his upper body is unclothed. He wields the Magic of the
Elements and summoning. Like Lord Lodhapna he is a Servant of Peace, a
Peace-maker.

His father was Melloron, son of Meior, son of Meiron. Looking for his
people, who are looking for a safe haven.

Repeek (Rozberk): The (human) Innkeeper at the AMMA Inn, and a powerful
elemancer. He may not
be much to look at, but he packs quite a punch! (His beer's great too!)
Former lover of Jill E'Fish.

~~

In addition, there are to this point three major pantheons, as

well as the dieties that any character might worship. They are:

The AMMA Pantheon- the Gods & Goddess who rule the 'linked planes' Created
by Clare Yeowart - tyl...@hotmail.com, they are: Air, Death, Dream, Earth,
Water, Time, & Space.

~

Gyre Hart's theological framework- Based on the 'Wild Hunt', Gye Hart is of
The First, the beings who brought millions of worlds into creation's light.
I think that Shaal is a demigod, the spirit of anguish from the Forest
Primeval.

~

The James/Lawless Pantheon: The pantheon of Fel. Lord James (Death, still
alive), Master Brett (War, uses Really Big Monkeys, still alive), Hu'jarien,
Princess L'sa (Shadows, still alive), Lady M'Cormik, Nuno the Brave (comrade
of Schiavo, destroyed by Lawless), Lady Heather (Life and Healing, the
deranged one, still alive), the Knight Peacock Vince (still alive), B'nie of
the wild aspect (destroyed by Lawless), Schiavo of the Setting Sun (still
alive? Was on Shae Piccolo, possessed by Lawless), J'kowski, Jeff Longhair
(destroyed by Lawless), Jasokow, the explorer, Jess'Ka, B'porta.

The Other, Lawless, is a godlike elemental chaos monster bent on destroying
everything. It appears that Norak as well as most Amma dark elves have
sided with this usurping entity...

~

The Tu'lari Goddess

The Goddess adopted the Tu'lari; she is prayed to by most of them. She is a
goddess of healing; her clerics are sought after by many races, and
remembered by others as mere legends. Lodhapna prays to her and serves her
as well as serving Peace. Long ago, before the Genocide, the Tu'lari knew
her name and she was often amoung them. Now, none claim to know her true
name, and though she still comes to them, there is a reservation in her
movements that the stories say was not there before. When they pray to her,
she is invoked as, "Lady of Healing," "Friend of Tordulam," "Lady of the
Healing Dance," or simply, "Tu'lari goddess".

6.) Some more FAQs answered:

Where is the Realm located?
The Realm is on a Plane, which is in turn one of a group of Planes
known as 'the Linked Planes'. The Realm is set on a land with sea to
the West and South, and other lands to the East and North. The inner
reaches of the Realm are havens for all types of mythic. There are
forests, plains, lakes and caves, hills, more mountains and open
woodlands. There are even rumours of a crystal grove, ready-built
dragon palaces and Faerie mounds within the deeper reaches of the
forest. At the centre of the Realm lies the only major gathering of
humans, the city of Ungo, which contains an Inn. The other major
centre of the Realm is ShadowHome, the lair of the Defender of the
Realm.
Ungo is the City of the Realm. It's name is ancient for "The
Anointed". This is a mixing place for Mythics of every type and every
motivation. This is where those humans that find themselves here end
up, too. It is ruled by the militia and governed by a council, unseen
as yet. Ungo considers itself separate from the Realm, and the
politics rife in the city only stretch to its walls. It is a place of
many opportunities, but many dangers.
The Amma Inn: A small-on-the-outside-but-big-on-the-inside place, that
is operated by a smallish human by the name of Repeek. It is a
magical building created by the owner to offer any type of mythic a
place of rest and relaxation. The price for a night stay is free and
the meal is free too. The owner can create gold at will, so he likes
to be repaid in stories and a 'full meal hall'.

Are there set Gods, or can I use my own?
If you want your character to be a native of the Realm, you really
should use one of the Gods common to the linked planes. Otherwise, do
what you want. Full godly descriptions will be available on request,
and I plan to get a webpage up with Realm details, including things
like that, on it.

NPCs: Who and what are they?
NPCs are non-playing characters, the ones anyone can write without
giving offence to anyone else. As well as the peasants, background
mythics and general populace, the current named NPCs are:

Arran the healer: Ogre, lives in ShadowHome, has a gentle, caring and
kind disposition.

The Gibberer is a mad god of a long dead world

Ghost: ShadowHome's maid. She keeps the place neat and tidy, and has
the same disposition as Arran.

Halin: Dwarf-Lord of ShadowHome. Typical dwarf, speaks with a bad
Irish accent.

Lawless: Chaotic godlike entity who wishes to consume the world, and
who seeks to convert mythic races to bring this about. Currently, the
AMMA Dark Elves(mostly) and most of the minotaurs(from Rain's world)
have been subverted, as well as Norak, who has as yet unknown ties to
this being. Also has Harpies in his following.

Norak: The Bad Guy. Human sorcerer, believes that everyone and everything
in the Realm should be his - which puts him at odds with the rest of us. He
at one point was second in the Realm of Amma's government, but when the
human governmet collapsed rule fell to the mythic beings of the land.
Norak, now, wants to conquer the place.

Why is that place called ShadowHome?
Because it's ShadowAngel's lair.

Where & what's the Amma Inn?
It is a magical Inn that's larger on the inside. it's run by Repeek
the elemancer. It's become the main meeting place for adventurers in
AMMA.

Are humans with mythical companions welcome?
Of course - don't be intimidated by the reaction of the mythics to a
human, though.

Why do the creatures of the Realm distrust humans?
For a long time, the only humans in the Realm have been nasty
ones trying to kill or capture us.

Is there any modern technology used in the Realm?
Yes, but heavily disguised as magic. This is because most in the
Realm don't know what technology is, and would have great difficulty
coping with it.

What kind of currency do the denizens of the Realm use or do they
trade and barter? Where do they get their clothing and supplies?
We don't usually bother with the mundane stuff, but if you really feel
you need some, feel free to materialise it.

Telepaths? There are telepaths? I don't want them reading my
character's mind! Then I couldn't...
It's generally considered bad manners to do anything serious to
someone else's character without them giving permission beforehand.
That and you could have a natural mind-block, amulet, ring, or
whatever.

What is meant by 'homeworld'? Are there other worlds?
A homeworld is usually the universe a character comes from- Besides
Amma(the realm) itself, people come from all sorts of zany places...
