My Scottish friends and I took our kids (21, 17, 15) to the shows in
Konocti and Mountain View. Well, we didn't take them to the shows, but
they were in the hotels. While at Konocti, someone offered the kids 3
free tix to the show. They turned them down. The older boys, (Scots)
aren't fans, and my kid (15) just wanted to hang with the older crowd.

Hey! It's free. What do you want for free?

You should've said-- "Hey! It's free. What do you want for free?" ;-)

What?!?!

Shouldn't they have said yes to the free tickets and then tried to
sell them on eBay?

Why not make a few bucks on the deal like the rest of the scalper
jerks?

(tongue planted firmly in cheek, and a bash against Mr. Goodwin who
says if I don't think scalping on eBay is cool, then I should just
stay away from it entirely)

WTF are you talking about? If you're gonna "bash" then at least clarify
yourself.

Hey! It's free. What do you want for free? ~~~~~~~~~~
I find this troubling. You're on the right track, when you're
listening to YES. Why in the world wouldn't they want to see YES? I
hope they weren't just saying that to irritate you. Well, the kids in
this modern age, I have a real hard time figuring out. I assume their
attitudes come from MTV, and watching that sick jive after school, while
the parents backs are turned, and are still at work. If I were you, I
damn sure, wouldn't let the minors go to any damn devil music shows.
One day they're gonna wish that they had gone to see YES, I'll bet. The
Konocti show was awesome, and fun! I like your website.

Well, as for my daughter, she's been to many many YES shows and will
probably join me in L.A.. Our children have been surrounded by YES
music for a long time. Right now, they're becoming interested in
industrial/house/club music, which we all listened to in the car for the
last 4 days. BOOM BOOM BOOM. Different music for different people.

When offered the tickets, they were probably being polite in refusing,
as we've trained them over the years not to take 'candy from strangers'.
They had made plans with us before the show, and the responsible thing
for them to do would be to stick with the plans, even if it meant
turning down a wonderful show.

I was fairly proud of their actions, thought I do wish they had gone to
the concert. The hotel room was only 100 yards from the show.

As I was exiting the venu during Roundabout (g), it was plenty loud in
the parking lot. I'm sure they could have heard it from the room.

Every time I see this subject I think people are talking about trying to
free some political prisoner.

You know, "Free Mandela," or "Free Wynona", etc.

Well, that was somewhat the goal I had in creating this particular
heading. They ran this joke on Southpark 3 weeks back. "Free Hat"
