What does that mean?
The songs title comes from a line from Townshends Baba who said...
"...hang onto the hem of my robe..."
Basically the song is about when life is hard, keep your faith (whichever
faith).
Maintain your belief in god (your god) and everything will be alright.
There is obviously more to it but that is a quick answer. Now what is a
dickky-dick?
Pete seems to be pretty fond of the coat metaphor. "Keep me warm, let
me wear your coat." "I wear my war-time coat in the wind and sleet."
Others?

With such an extensive catalog of songs, coats are bound to come up. Here's
another: "When I look at the hole in your coat, I have to love you more."
And then there's "When he's got his green coat (or "greencoat") on, I
love him even more" from "Bernie's Holiday Camp" in the movie "Tommy".
Unless that's the line you were referring to, above. If that's NOT your
line, what song is your line from?

Alan,
He was referring to "Mary."

Have you stopped beating your wife yet?

Never have, but thanks for asking. Guess you haven't studied the fallacy
of hidden premises yet in your logic class so you wouldn't know why my
post was an answer to your original question.
