Hi Who Fans,

FYI:

The HBO special will be broadcasted on WNEW NY (if not Westwood One,
probably another company). This will be a stereo simulcast of HBOs
special.

errr... the MTS Stereo track from the HBO special probably has a higher
frequency response than the FM broadcast. Therefore, why would anyone want
to grab it off the radio???

Anyone who's cable company doesn't offer a stereo signal will get better
sound off the radio.

You sweet-talker you.

For what it's worth, Fang is precisely correct. The fidelity of a
decent copy of the HBO broadcast will be much better than a radio
broadcast even under the best possible conditions. Consult a sound
engineer if you need further details (I'm not a sound engineer, but I
occasionally hire them).

Yeah, it has to do with the highest and lowest frequencies that radio can't
broadcast, so you're missing certain pitches of every sound. A decent stereo
signal carried over cable would definitely sound better than a signal from
the air.

However, if your television can't pick up stereo, as many can't, or if your
cable company doesn't broadcast in stereo, as many don't, THEN it's time to
turn the sound off on your set, and get your audio from the radio.

You have to ignore our "friend", Petie. Every now and then his wife, Kathy
forgets to shave her beard and he starts drinking and goes into another
jealous tizzy. We saw him at one of the shows in his little NY Ranger's
outfit, but he wouldn't say anything to us since he didn't have a ladder
that he could climb on to be that tall...

Oh well...

Now, that raises an interesting question. Would a good mono copy be
better than a bad stereo copy? I know there are a number of Who
releases that sound better in mono. I think I would prefer a good mono
in this case.

Thanks. It amazes me how people see right through fangfang and accept him
as a "nice guy"...

My opinion is based on a nasty sarcastic Who freak who finds glee in
mocking anyones either a: opinion or b: simple sincere question and
goes by the handle fang.

Not in the content of radio broadcast versus HBO broadcast.

God forbid someone posts something that may challenge fangs
high Who authoritive intelligence. A legend in his own small
mind..

Thanks.

Hope this clears it up. Now go sit with fang at the garden and
yell "fat pig" at any overweight person that sits near you two.

Have fun!

No one would be more surprised than Fang himself. I just fail to see
how Fang's personality can change the sound characteristics of cable
vs. broadcast radio.

My God, whose parents would actually name their kid “Dick Weiner”?

They must’ve HATED him. Maybe he was a menopause baby.

Just FYI, Dickie-boy has been banned from several Facebook Who groups precisely because of his antagonistic attitude.

Over 20 years, and he hasn’t learned a thing.

BTW, just to give him a taste of his own medicine:

Richard and Sandra Weiner
108 West Shore Road
Denville, NJ, 07834

Hilariously, at his last home, his real estate agents were banging each other in Rich and Sandy’s bed.
