Ah, I do recall, thrity years ago, that people were saying the same
thing about Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Now it's Billy Corgan and
James Iha. Never mind that both Corgan and Iha have been seen in
public with girlfriends numerous times. It seems that we, as rock
music fans, are always wondering if our treasured stars are gay. For
example, there was a big rumour about Pete Townshend's bisexuality.
And, a rumour that said Mick Jagger and David Bowie were having a
sexual, homosexual relationship.

Actually, Pete's been more or less happily married for nearly 30 years.
Despite his neuroticism, he's the only member of The Who that's still with
his first wife. Pete did his alleged gay experimentation WHILE MARRIED.

For all of his breakdowns, addictions, and self-loathing... it can't be
too much fun being Karen Astley Townshend.

About 6 years ago I heard excerpts on a Pete Townsend interview on the
Howard Stern show where Pete did confirm his homosexuality. He said
(paraphrasing, it was 6 years ago!!) he felt he was a woman in a man's
body. He also stated that "Rough Boys" was his 'coming out' song.A
pretty courageous thing to admit on national radio!!
Howard Stern's folks then wrote a parody song to 'Behind Blue Eyes". It
went:

No one knows what it's like to be a gay man.
To go both ways man,
I like men's thighs.
No one knows what its like to see Daltrey singing,
I get this tingling,
Behind my fly.

But my behind, it ain't just an exit, as a man's behind should be.
(not sure of this next line, think it went....)
There was Boy George, then there's Elvis,
who would have expect, the Big Boy Pete?

Definitely in poor taste, definitely hilarious though.

Listening to the Smashing Pumpkins music (ESPECIALLY "Siamese Dream"), it
seems to me that their music is the most fresh thing to come about in a
long time; he is a really good songwriter. They could be a truly great
band, except:

Billy Corgan has the most awful voice I have ever heard. Bob Dylan sounds
like Pavarotti compared to this guy. Wouldn't this band be awesome with a
really good lead singer?

WHO GIVES A DAMN, I DON'T WANT SLEEP WITH THESE ARTISTS. I JUST LIKE
THEIR MUSIC. THESE RUMORS ARE STUPID EVEN IF THEY'RE TRUE. PEOPLE WHO
WORRY TOO MUCH IF THEIR FAVORITE ARTISTS ARE GAY, SHOULD STOP LIVING
VICARIOUSLY THROUGH THEM

No, they'd still be a bunch of derivative wankers.

Would not a persons sexual preference be their business and no one elses?
What the fuck difference does it really make if you appreciate someones
creative talent. If it's a role model you're after maybe consider their
stand against hypocrisy.
Music's history is full of sexually flambouyant composers. If the origin of
these threads lie with the homophobic christian population (my suspicion)
lets look at the authors of some classic spiritual songs.

(psssst I heard ____ celebrates Easter.)

You think he's bad, just listen to that new band REEF. BLAH! God, I bet
that guy thinks he sounds new and creative--sounds more like a tortured
dog, to me. "Ohhh, WHaahahAH!"

For the same reason people make a big deal about anything involving a
celebrity. Princess Di, for example. She's dead. And how will the
world function without her? And, what if the(shudder) whole royal
family dissapeared? How would the world run without them? It's silly,
but stop cracking on people for talking about sex. Nobody thought it
was wrong to talk about how many women David Lee Roth slept with. If
it's a celebrity, people are gonna talk about what brand of soy sauce
they use. It doesn't have to be relevant, and the person doesn't have
to actully do anything important.

Good point, of course, is that how you feel when you think about Kieth
Moon's death, in a very sarcastic way? I'm sure in Britain there's
nationwide mourning, becuase Di was a nice person. If you've ever watched
the movie "Imagine" (or even just the history channel commercial with John
Lennon) you'll see that when he died, it was like time stood still. It was
unbelievable. I just don't think death can be taken in such a sarcastic
way.

Yeah, I agree too. Why should you even care....? I mean, there are
hundreds of thousands of gays out there.... Why should one make a
difference? Oh, and a rumour is a rumour. 99.9% of them are B.S. made up
by tabloidests and yellow journalists ( a journalist who writes lies to
sell papers.) Sheesh. If people could just understand this......
