The "god-of-the-newsgroup" thread is getting a little strained...let's talk
about something else...ok i got it...(using medival court announcer voice)
presenting THE NEW TOPIC OF DISCUSSION!

Who has seen ever seen Weezer live? If you have seen them, how many times? what
did they play? did they do anything of note? where, when, how much, who opened
(or headlined)?, you know, all that stuff. I'll start:

I have seen Weezer once, on December 10, 1996 at Club Firestone in downtown
Orlando, FL. They played 18 songs total, all 10 off of Pinkerton, 7 off of the
Blue Album, and "You Gave Your Love to Me Softly" (which was quite slower than
I am used to hearing it). They opened with "Tired of Sex", then played
"Getchoo", then "Jonas", then I don't remember. They closed the first set with
"Undone", then opened the encore with "Butterfly" and closed the show with
"Surf Wax America". Ash opened, and it cost $10 (I will never stop telling that
story, $10 to see Weezer and Ash!) I can't remember them doing anything
spectacular, Rivers didn't say much, Matt and Brian did all the talking.
Anyway, it was the absolute best show I have seen to date, with the
Refreshments an almost close second.

been to 4 =w= concerts here...i'm not sure you want to read through all
these...but it's spring break so i have lots of time on my hands.
first one way back in '95 (apr 8) at the hollywood palladium after the
blue album...i was 13 then...think i weighed about 70 lbs or so...got there
early so i was exactly in the front/center and i got completely squished. had
this swollen lip as a souvenir and i didn't even get to see weezer up close cuz
my sister was afraid i was going to die or something so she pulled me back
after the opening acts. it was funny though..the bouncers looked really worried
about me and they kept offering me water. so i saw the show from the balcony,
but it was still fun... i think they played *all* the blue album songs (there
weren't many other songs to play then..) and two that i didn't recognize...i
think jamie and probably a pinkerton song..but i didn' t recognize it then.
2nd one at the hollywood palace on dec 21, 1996. ash opened...i wasn't
really into them then, but i still loved then...it always takes a concert to
make me fall in love with a band. again, i was in the middle, but there was a
row of people in front of me (i always make it a point to get there early cuz
i'm too short to see over people's heads) ash was awesome, weezer was awesome,
don't really remember what they played though...mostly pinkerton stuff.
3rd =w= show was with no doubt at the arrowhead pond in anaheim (june 1,
1997). =w= rocked, but everyone (who amazingly managed to all look like gwen
stefani) came to see no doubt so the crowd sucked...don't like arena concerts.
i never manage to get floor tickets. left in the middle of no doubt cuz i
couldn't stand it anymore...went outside, saw this group of people all wearing
weezer shirts....held my breath..sure enough, there was rivers in the middle of
the crowd signing autographs. got a hug (or was it 2?) from rivers, signature
on my shirt & ticket from rivers & matt. he asked my age (but didn't sexually
harass me...) didn't see anyone else.
4th =w= experience...benefit concert (8/15/97 at the palace) front center
again! (heehee...there's nothing like seeing your fav band play a few bouncers
away from you...but i guess there's also nothing like feeling cold metal bars
crushing your ribs either..) too bad it couldn't have been for a less tragic
reason....as most of you guys know, the allan family came onstage and said a
few words...rivers played mykel and carli alone. it was truly touching... and
they played only in dreams! i've *always* wanted to hear that live..(my fav
song) and they never play it... saw rivers afterwards in the parking lot...got
another hug/autograph. he recognized me :)
wow...if you actually bothered to read all that....maybe you need to find
something better to do with your time?

maybe i do need to do something better with my life other than read stories
about ppl seeing weezer live, but i never got the chance to because my parents
were being stupid. if they come to detroit, im definately going to camp out in
front of the ticketmaster. however, i was able to see sloan live at the main
event in toledo, it only held 200 ppl so everyone was right in front of the
stage. i got to meet everyone except for patrick and andrew even came up to
me.
