Here's what we know so far. You can listen to Q101 all week, between 10:30 and
11:30 and 4:30 and 5:30 (Q101's commercial free hours) and they will provide
clues as to Weezer's "secret" location for the show on friday night. First 600
get in for FREE. I was watching MTV last night (argh) and they slipped up a
little bit, letting us know that the show was going to be at a ROLLER RINK
somewhere in Chicago. If anyone else gets more info, or hears the clues,
here's the place to post it!

aren't they playing a tower records on wednesday night, in addition to the
friday show? i wish i could listen for clues on wkqx, but i can't even
stomach that station for more than a couple minutes...i will however ask a
friend who works at jam, if he has heard anything and try to post any info.

Tower is a signing only. You have to listen to Q101 to get a pair of the 600
tickets for the show on Fri. That is, if you can stomach listening to
Q101.........

Has anyone heard the clues from Q101 today? I heard it this afternoon at
5:30. The Clue I heard said, that you have to take the afternoon off, have a
radio, and have transportation. That totally fits the Roller Rink Theory since
I can imagine people roller skating with a transistor radio in hand to weezer
1970's style. When I heard about the roller rink, I immediately thought of the
Rainbow in uptown, which someone mentioned earlier. That's on Clark and
Montrose I do believe. Any one else hear the other clues??? I, like most of
the group, can't stand listening to the station too much so I took one for the
team today.

okay so the clues from q101 today were:

1) it's NOT at a roller rink (damn, we thought we had it) they acknowledged
the MTV thing and said that it FOR SURE wasn't a roller rink and
2) you needed the afternoon off, transportation, and a radio.

I'll post the next 2 clues tomorrow as soon as I hear them. we can get this!>

Here are the clues as I heard them today:

1)the secret location is north of 90
2)the secret location is east of Randall Rd.

now, Im not an expert on the suburbs but I know the city well and I know there is
no Randall in the City. But I looked on my Chicagoland map and I saw a Randall
Rd way out there in Kane County. It crosses 90 out past elgin??? I guess they
weren't kidding about needing transportation. Any Ideas if they meant a
different Randall Road? (I hope so!) So I was thinking... Anyone going out to
the signings at either Tower or the Cheese castle? I'd go, but Its a stretch
gettin' off work friday this week. Maybe someone could do some creative
investigation or ask one of the band members for any hints/clues about the
location and post them back here. Any volunteers?

I didn't hear it at all, so i'm not second guessing you. but are you sure that
it wasn't Rand Rd? Thatd be a bit more reasonable and accessible.

North of I90 and east of Rand is damn near the entire NW suburbs. That doesn't
really say alot, even though that seems to be my neighborhood(even though I
might end up working)....

I'm going to the Cheese Castle, so I guess I'm not super-worried about the
secret location in Chicago. If it's anywhere near where I work (in AH), I
might drop by.

The Cheese Castle signing said "line up time is 4:30". Is it just me, or
does that really say to you, "get there way earlier than 4:30"?

Do you think you can buy a copy of the Green Album there? I don't have a
(legit) copy yet, and I don't want 'em to bitch if I have em sign something
like a pinkerton/blue album liner notes.

they DID say RandALL Road. I live off of Rand near 90 so I made sure to listen
VERY VERY carefully as they repeated it. It is NORTH of I-90, and EAST of
RandDALL Rd. If that's all the way out in Elgin or whatever, then i better get
some gas money-more clues tomorrow, I'll post after both of them.

Okey dokey, the 5th clue was read, but I'll post all of them just so its "all
wrapped up in a convenient little package." (thank you Homer). I'll also post
some othet info that I know for a fact.

CLUES:
1) It is NOT at a roller rink in chicago.
2) You will need the afternoon off, transportation, and a radio.
3) The location is North of I-90
4) The location is East of Randall Rd.
5) (NEW CLUE!) The location is West of Illinois 59 (IL 59)

Also remember:
- There are no tickets for this show. You just have to be one of the first 600
to show up.
- The appearance today at Tower Records is JUST a signing, not a concert, they
won't even be playing...but if anyone would feel comfortable enough asking the
guys for another clue about Friday (which is unlikely considering q101 would
probably beat them severely if they spilled anything, but it's still worth a
shot.)

I'll post again after 4:30.

Ok, here is my theory...

I looked on my Rand-Mcnally/Tribune Chicagoland map and looked all over for
Community colleges and Stuff like that. Well I couldn't find one there at all,
but I did find a lot of gravel pits! Well I also found something else
interesting on my map. I found a few airstrips... So could this place of
"higher" learning be an airstrip where there is an aviation school? There is
the Lake in the Hills airport. could it possibly be there? What do you all
think?

two hours later that, "the only place of higher learning in that area is

your logic we need figure out places that are west of randall rd., north of
higgins, and east of 59...then we will find the show for sure.

okay clue #8 coming up in a few minutes...in the mean time, i DON'T think that
it's going to be at Judson, because it DOESN'T fit one of the clues and
specifically for that reason, they're being really careful about this and i
don't think they would have it at a place that doesn't fit one of the clues. I
have been informed of another "place of higher learning" in the area but i was
asked not to post it, so maybe in a little bit. Okay, clue #8 coming up in the
next post. Keep workin at it guys...it will pay off in the end.

Did anyone read at weezer.com the stuff about the show tonight? More
importantly, did you see the picture that is obviously a hockey rink with the
apparently sarcastic caption "hope this isn't a clue"? The hell is going on

Sorry to post twice in a row. But I had a dentist appointment this morning and
now I'm home but I don't quite feel like going to school yet. Anyway though, I
did a few searches on Yahoo! Yellow Pages and stuff like that and no skating
rinks, rinks, hockey rinks, etc, etc in zip code 60192 showed up. There was one
in 60193 but that's about as close as it got. I don't know. If anyone wants to
look at the search results I'll put a link at the bottom of this post. I wish
the show was more centrally located! I'm already 1 1/2 hours from it and I
don't even know where it is. Hopefully someone's got something to add when I
get home today.

well, actually I belong to a hockey family, my brothers have played for over 15
years a piece, and believe me if they would have even THOUGHT of it as a hockey
rink I would have known about it before now. There isn't a rink in 60192, and
how would that qualify for a school of "higher learning"? I know we don't have
to take the clues literally, but I can't even begin to make a connection with
that one. Next clue comin up in about 45 minutes.

it to the show? Did anyone? Where was it at? I was reading all the posts

The dude with the wristbands/maps was in a forest preserve parking lot across
the street from NIU Hoffman Estates. The show itself was at the Fireside II
Roller Rink in West Dundee. they played for about 40 minutes; setlist:
Photograph/Island in the Sun/Hash Pipe/Knock-Down Drag-Out/Say it ain't
so/Buddy Holly/Tired of Sex/Undone. Then they signed autographs.
Yeah, Q101 sucks, but you gotta give them credit. They had EVERYONE sprinting
in circles around the NIU building trying to find the guy. They had us going
like rats in a maze.

well I'm happy, bum leg and all, that I made it and found the show. I was
laughing so hard while everyone was running all over, and even more afterwards
when we realized that we didn't have to run anywhere. I give Q101 a lot of
credit for pulling this off, and those of us that were lucky enough to go had a
blast I think, except for some balding asshole in a hawaiian shirt who tried to
push past me and ended up getting elbowed in the eye. Sucks for him, fun for
me.
