it at the end of the post...especially a name like pfjks8s...what does that
oh! i know! pcweezer (or whatever) is really kevin ridel in disguise and he
actually did accidentally spell his band (and last name) wrong. and thus felt
so stupid about it that he refused to confess that he was actually kevin ridel
of *ridel* high.
actually, weren't kevin ridel and rivers friends in high school or something
like that? (actually, i have no clue)

Kevin Ridel used to be River's mini-bike buddy when they were both kids
living on the Spahn Ranch in southern California. One day Rivers and Kevin
were out riding in the desert, and Rivers' Honda 75 broke a chain. Kevin
let Rivers use his Bultaco 50 to go back to the ranch and get a
replacement. But when Rivers returned, Kevin had been stung by a hornet
and was in anaphalactic shock. Kevin's hand was permanently injured and he
could no longer practice playing the guitar.
Rivers' debt of gratitude secretly drove him to excellence, and he vowed
that he would return the favor to Kevin Ridel one day. That day finally
came when, through the help of Rivers and the weezer fan club, Kevin's
band Ridel High recorded the hit single "Hornet, 1976."
Now you know the rest of the story.

thats an easy one. I am really Kevin Ridel and pjfsk8s is really Rivers. we
have had all of you fooled for almost a year now. wow, all you people are
really gullible...

pjfsk8s= patrick jonathan finn skates, i guess i am unusually attached to it,
sorry. skateboarding causes me lots of pain.
rivers and kevin did go to h.s. together and they have had a number of bands
together. when i met rivers kevin was designated as his best friend and if i
was going to play music with rivers i had to learn to deal with kevin, which i
didn't. but many years later kevin found the lord and made a chrsitian rock
group called the truth. at the first show, at the whiskey a go go, i played
guitar and rivers played bass wearing this big fuzzy russian hat. i played the
worst guitar solo ever to ring the half filled halls of the no bozo jam( the
monday night show at the whiskey). the next time we played i played bass and
rivers played guitar, but we didn't make it to stage again because the drummer
was some kind of prima donna and decided he wasn't going to play moments before
we were supposed to go on stage.

how many years are we talking about here? i always thought that Rivers moved
out to LA in 90 or 91. and Weezer officially formed in early 92. the time frame
is really confusing, so pat, if you could clear this up, i would be less
confised. yeah....

the name of. the very short stint backing up kevin happened in the time period
when rivers was still going to santa monica college and was writing songs with
pat but they matt was still living in berkeley ca. i'm not 100% sure when
rivers moved to l.a. but the 90 to 91 range sounds right, because he'd already
been there a while when i first met him as a coworker at tower records in '92.
