Hmm...now how to I respond to this. First off, read the inside cover to the
POD. It's supose to sound like shit!!!! It was recorded on a 4 track on some
fucked up little studio. IT'S CLASSIC WEEN!!! I mean, these guys are suppose
to sound polished up like Michael Jackson, they're Ween. The first Ween I was
ever exposed to was The Pod, and I fell in love. Here's two guys writing the
most incredible, original, fun, creative, god damn good music I've ever heard.
You can hear them laugh while recording, fucking up, missing beats, and
somehow it all fits together and the songs just come out sounds awesome! I've
never discovered another band that can do this as good as Ween can. And I
think I can speak for everyone when I say, that's why we love these guys! :)

Why should the Stallion sound the same each song? Is there a law? And Pollo
Asado, a little creative? NO COMMENT!

Yes, I have to agree, I didn't much care for the country CD, but oh well, I
still have 4 other CD's to listen to every day!

And to answer your first questions, rumors have it "The Mullusk" is due out in
June, and it will be 'NORMAL' Ween, if there is such a thing.

Later

Oh ya, and hang on to "The Pod", I think someday it will grow on you,
especially if you are a Ween fan for a long time, trust me.

My question is: When will Ween come out with another album? Will it be
another goddamn country album or worse? Okay, that was 2 questions.

That country album pissed me off. Although I have to admit, it was nicely
recorded and if that album was playing and I didn't know Ween had a country
album, I would never have known it was them. They really sounded like a
real country band! Nevertheless, it's not my style.

Another album of theirs that really turned me off was The Pod. I did enjoy
very much the other 3 they put out. But The Pod was perhaps the worst
album I have ever heard from any band in my entire life! It was badly
recorded, they sounded like shit and bizzarre as hell. Some of the reason
could be because of that mononucleusis problem that Dean or Gene suffered
at that time. It was so bad, it actually kinda frightened me in a way.
Pollo Asado was a little creative. One thing that is really strange is
that The Stallion 1 and 2 doesn't sound anything like The Stallion 3 from
Pure Guava.

But I hope they have a new one soon and I hope it is as good as the other 3
albums or better! Hopefully better!

Dude, I think you are a dick. How can a band's album "piss you off"? If
you don't like it, don't fucking buy it. If you all ready bought it, don't
fucking listen to it.

Nobody REALLY knows what The Mollusk holds for us... I read quite a few
times that it was supposed to be like their other albums... But who
knows... If they did country it could be smooth jazz for all we know (My
god... I like smooth jazz about as much as I like mini vans...)

I know that I am not the only one who will disagree with you on this
one... It took me over a year to get into sync with The Pod, but that
album is absolutely incredible! It all fits together so well, and the
music is so.......... awesome. I don't know how to explain it, but The Pod
is one of those albums that I can truly say had some divine (Boognish)
inspiration. It's not my favourite album, but it's #2 to GWS.

I guess everybody's entitled to their own opinion, and mine is that The
Pod is a work of art.

Sometime in the next few months, (hopefully before the end of
summer!!)

>Will it be another goddamn country album or worse? Okay, that was 2 questions.

It's not supposed to be country.

>That country album pissed me off.

I didn't like it much either, but wouldn't go so far as to say
i'm pissed about it.

Man, you got the right to your own opinion, but I think you're
nuts! The Pod rules! It's my personal fav (GWS/C&C are close
seconds)

> But The Pod was perhaps the worst album I have ever heard from any band in
> my entire life!

Once again, your opinion, but, c'mon...that's overstating it a
bit. How could you like their other albums, and then absolutely hate
the pod the way you say you do?

>Pollo Asado was a little creative.

C'mon! I like that song, but what about other ones
(Awesome Sound, Captain Fantasy, Laura, Sketches of Winkle...etc) You
actually hate these songs???

> One thing that is really strange is
>that The Stallion 1 and 2 doesn't sound anything like The Stallion 3 from
>Pure Guava.

Why is that really strange? If they sounded the same, what
would be the purpose of putting them on two different albums? Part
One rules, BTW...

Maybe you should listen to the Pod a few more times, and
re-evaluate your opinion.

okay, i have heard songs off the new album, and they are normal ween, with
a twist. they sound more like mature ween. not as much cursing at all ,
but peering into completely mystical concepts. the new stuff is like a
fairy tale. it sounds very conceptual as well. to be honest it is better
than any of the other stuff they have ever done. imagine the pod mixed
with stardust-era bowie all on acid, and you are somewhere close to the
songs i have heard. i have heard blarney stone, which breaks this rule,
it more like the great juvenille ween. i have heard wavin my dick in the
wind, which is kinda like pumpin for the man gone twang. i have heard the
golden eel, which is a mix of the house of the rising sun and black
sabbath and some great pirate-esque song. i have heard the mollusk and
buckingham green which are both totally trippy bowie type stuff. i have
heard koko, which is a beatiful jazzy-latiny-mexicany type song. finally i
have heard mutilated lips, which is a brilliant masterpiece, a song that
is so good it willl make you scream, it sounds like really wasty-groovy
type stuff, with a little spice of something by the beatles, all mixed
with a jivy talkin type chorus, brilliant. claude coleman told me it is a
short and sweet album and that it is the boys most genius album to date,
by a good margin. he also it leaves you physcially affected like a kick in
the ribs. thats all i know bout it, 14 songs in all 2. it should be great,
glad i could help.

I used to think The Pod sucked as well. At first I could not find ONE
good song on it. Then after a few more listens, it started growing on
me....Pollo Asado...Sketches of Winkle...Oh My Dear (Falling In
Love)...Pork Roll Egg & Cheese....and then, one of my absolute fave Ween
songs, Right to the Ways and the Rules of the World.

Give it a few more spins when you're in an open minded mood. I mean,
granted, in my opinion, it pales in comparison to GWS or C&C...or even
Pure Guava. Ok, fine, it's probably my least favorite (aside from 12GCG)
of the Ween albums, but it's Ween and they rule so who gives a fuck,
right?

I gotta disagree with both youse on this one. I fucking HATE power
country, all that crap that is being made now, but listen to 12 GCG and
you have to admit that there is some true mastery of the instruments on
that album. Ween is really fucking talented, and this proves it. No
One, and I mean NO ONE can play good country and western anymore except
for the kinds of guys they got for that album. Then you add in the
wonderful Ween lyrics, and it makes it perfect! Maybe I like it because
I grew up out here in the west and particularly enjoy going to Southwest
Steakhouses where they've got grizzly old cowpokes playing the geetar and
drinking beer.

You said it. BTW country isn't country anymore. Ya see, what happend
is this. About ten years ago, the Nashville sonwriters guild go
together and said "we gotta break the top fourty guys, swing the money
over here, get some momentum" (no shit, I was there) They decided to
make a radical shift. It was sort of 'agreed" that they would write
straight R&B with country lyrics and southern style vocals. Thus the
birth of that beast "hot new Country". It's just poorly written R&B and
it sucks. But ween along with some of country's greatest studio
musicians put out something real. Yes it's got R&B chords but they
were'nt hiding that. They celebrated teh 'spirit' of country and I
loved it. I'm not a fan of most country (cept the old stuff) and 12GCG
is not my fav ween album but it still kicks the shit outta top 40 bush
shit!

Now I know everyone is entitled to there own opinion but i can't help not
liking your opinion. Ween has just such a homemade good for you sound that
any type of music that they embarked upon would have a delightful sound to
it. Ween has a sort of garage sound to them. Just doing what they like to
do. And "The Pod" is just as good as all the rest of their Albums for the
mere reason that each album is in its own realm and can't quite be
compared to another one. Their new album is something i'm eagerly
anitcipating to get so I can gobble up some more of Ween's delicious
sounds...

Be good to your ears. All of Ween's stuff is very very worthy.

Yes, 12GCH was an astounding album. There is nothing wrong with liking
some country. Especially if it's done with such honesty and intensity as
the bros. Ween did. May I suggest to all fans of 12GCH that you check
out Mojo Nixon and Jello Biafra's Prarie Home Invasion! It is some good
stuff. As far as the Pod being the best album, I would agree with you,
but I like all of them equally. with the possible exception of Pure
Guava. Which I find to be just a tad under par. But that is just my
humble opinion... Later.....

Although I can't agree with your comments on the Pod's mediocrity I must
thank you for getting this newsgroup talking intelligently (in most
cases).
A suggestion, when you feel like shit, when you can't feel any worse put
on the Pod. Do thid preferably when it's extremely fucking hot out and
you're really bored and in your bedroom or a shitty basement. Then you
might figure out why it's my favorite Ween album

As for Pure Guava I think it is their best album, course I disagree with
you on the 12GCH so what can you expect. If you don't like Pure Guave take
more drugs and listen to it. If you still didn't like, then you obviously
didn't take enough drugs.

How can anyone claim to be a fan of WEEN and not revel the Pod? If you
don't like the album, then you just don't get it. The Pod is without a
doubt classic ween, and happens to be my personal favourite. Some
people may feel as though that with time, it grows on you like a
fungus. Yet, I believe it's more like a virus. You're infected
