I was reading the newsgroup discussion of the WP outtakes and hopped on
Napster to see if any of this stuff was there. Well, it is!
I downloaded 'For So Long', 'Wife', 'Belvidine', 'Long Beach Island',
and 'Wash Me Down'. They sound wastee and sweet.
Where are these tunes from and why are they so forbidden? Xenafat?
Goat? Can anyone in "the know" help me out?

Maybe the Bros. just don't want them in general circulation. They've
given us huge amounts of stuff, probably more than any other band has
ever just given away, and we should be happy for that. However these
snogs got out, they shouldn't be on Napster or in discussion here,
because that's how it was intended to be by Ween, and that should be
good enough for us.
Now would everyone please let this die, before we draw blood from the

I have a few things that I would never trade or copy, out of respect for the
band......actually I have some stuff from a few bands.....but the only thing
that is really good about them is the nostalgic value......but moving
ahead.....it's no secret that LBI exists and has been traded around....so I
guess that what he said about that sort of stuff being the price that they
pay for their encouragment is very true.

Yes the Orwellian tone of these messages is disturbing and contrary to the
reason some of us are even here; Because we enjoy Ween music. Authorized
release or not. Weither the band wants us to hear it or NOT. Most of us
don't even care how listenable some music is.
And I'll be damned if I'm gonna let any one tell me or anyone I know that
something I have on my very own hard drive doesn't exist.(I got mine from
napster user: deanween99)
Frankly I was going to remove copies of these songs from my napster music
folder to make them unavailable to the masses but since I have only seen
comments about what Ween supposedly thinks, or what direction has been given
to the ftp sys-ops and ludicrous comments to the effect that these files
don't exist I can't see any legitimate or substantial reason to keep others
from having these files.
I have heard that we should not post said files to the ftp's. Well
OK But that is a far cry from denying their existence.
I think the real challenge for us as a group will be to incorporate
these new songs into our collections in a way that makes it seem as though
we haven't, shouldn't be hard since they don't really exist after all

Totally...I mean someone reamed me out because I asked if I could get 'Ask the
Dragon' off them, but then its posted on the FTPs. I already have some of the
songs being discussed here because I didn't even know it was an issue. I'm
supposed to delete them now or something? Not going to happen. I was under the
impression that official releases were off limits to distribute but that
everything else was fair game. I haven't seen any posts from guys in the band
asking not to trade or aquire this stuff.

I am respecting what has been reported to be the bands wishes and have not
transfered the songs to anyone.
I see no reason why we should penalize ourselves with grief over this issue
because this music escaped the bands private portfolio.
According to Dr Jimmy mig said that he felt "betrayed". I have to assume it
was the record company who betrayed them by exposing the music. Just like he
betrayed themwhen he posted Craters.

Clearly it is not us fans who have betrayed him. We didn't dig in anyones
garbage nor are we responsible for digging up these songs and making them
available to the 'masses'.
Mickey also made an excellent point when he reportedly told Dr jimmy "it's
hard to draw a line between when it's uncool or not."
And frankly the line has been drawn by us a long time ago. And that is this:

some kind of hierarchical mechanisim that will allow this, one of our
