Personally, I like this country-style version a LOT better than the one
that actually made it to record. I don't know who's playing the
harmonica on this (Lou?), but it's fantastic, and the lo-fi recording
sound gives it that great rustic old country feel. Excellent
finger-picking guitar as well.
The album version is okay, but it's a bit too slow and the "spoken"
verse sounds silly.
Any thoughts?

That version is one my top favorite velvet songs. It really is unique
to hear harmonica and country-style in one of their songs.
Over You is another really nice song. I didn't even know it existed
before I downloaded a Velvet flood. It wasn't on the original '69
live album when I bought it years ago.
