...but was it?
Turned out over 250,000 people attend the "Bumblefuck" ribfest. It has
feautured artists such as : Sugar Ray, dada, Lynyrd Skynyrd,
Heartsfield, Poi Dog Pondering, Nicholas Tremulis Orchestra, Cathy
Richardson Band, Mr. Blotto, Umphrey's McGee, Jim Belushi, Pat
Benatar, 38 Special, Cheap Trick, Rick Springfield, Kansas, America,
Taylor Dayne, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Eddie Money and Kool & The Gang,
Ted Nugent, David Lee Roth, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Loretta Lynn, and
Blue Oyster Cult..
Not shabby.
Compare that list of acts to those billed in Sammy's "free"
desperation concert in the park:
Nick Gravenites, Harvey Mandel, Taj Mahal, Dan Hicks and the Hot
Licks, The Charlatans, Terry Haggerty and James Preston
(Sons of Champlin), Zero II, Squid B. Vicious, Paul Kantner (Jefferson
Airplane, Starship), Barry Melton (Country Joe and the Fish) Blue
Cheer, (Dickie Peterson, Leigh Stephens), Jorge Santana, George
Michalski, Greg Errico (Sly and the Family Stone), Quicksilver Gold,
Canned Heat, Narada Michael Walden, Natural Act (Hal Wagenet and
Hitchell Holman), Jeff Blackburn, Howard Wales, Richi Ray, (Freedom
Highway), Ray Manzarek (The Doors), Vince Welnick, (TheTubes and
Grateful Dead), Prairie Prince (Tubes), David Denny (Steve Miller),
Peter Kaukonen, Iron Butterfly, Sammy Hagar, Herman Eberitzsch (Lee
Oskar ,War), Ross Valory (Journey), Ace of Cups, War, Judge Murphy,
Stephen Gaskin, David Freiberg (Quicksilver and Starship) Country Joe
McDonald (Country Joe and The Fish) Greg Douglass (Steve Miller) Pete
Sears (Rod Stewart, Hot Tuna), Bruce Latimer, David and Linda Laflamme
(It's A Beautiful Day), Rowan Brothers, Lydia Pense, Annie Samson,
Wavy Gravy, Roy Rogers, Ramblin' Jack Elliot, Eric Burdon, plus other
major acts that will be announced just before the event.
Remember not only was Wavy Gravy there, but other "major" acts were
announced before the event.
...oh and let's not forget, Dave was so desperate to make money and
this was the best his "name recognition" could get him, so he settled

Poor Dave, so desperate he does two charity Ribfests in the same year

The Ribfests are *paying* gigs for the artists/bands.
They are not donating their time.
After expenses (which includes entertainment) the proceeds are donated
to charity by the organizations putting on the events. The
artists/bands aren't donating their performances for free, the rib
vendors aren't donating their ribs for free.
There are 1000's of volunteers that work at these events.
They are the ones who are *donating* their time.

Bzzzzzzt!
WRONG!
You have absolute shit for brains. Read the following:
Ribfest is also a charity fund raiser, with all proceeds going to All
Children’s Hospital, child abuse prevention programs, college
scholarships and other children related charities.
ALL PROCEEDS GOING TO CHARITY.
Sure, maybe he gets paid enough to fly down there and setup his stage,
but you have provided ZERO proof that he made a dime in profit.
It's a charity event for Christ's sake and YOU'RE still using it to
flame Roth! Bands don't play charity gigs for the money.

Again- where are your facts coming from? Link? The website states
quite clearly 250,000. It's like when you claimed only 400,000 saw
Roth in Boston instead of 500,000 - all estimates.
Once again, you've tried to pass your opinion as fact and you've ended
up making a complete ass of yourself.
>Tickets were $7 at the gate. Otherwise they were only $5. The

>whatever they want with their proceeds. What a dumbass.
Wow, still flaming a charity event for children?
...but let's apply your dumbfuck logic here anyway, and assume Dave
was in it solely for the money.
Let's do some math here:
Avg. Van Hagar reunion concert had 8000 in attendance.
Lets say every person even actually paid $100 a ticket (which we know
they didn't), forget all the slashed prices of tickets and free
parking and food promos -
8000 x 100 = $800,000
Ribfest had 250,000 people at $7 a ticket.
250,000 x 7 = $1,750,000
...and even if you divide by the 4 days -
1,750,000 / 4 = $437,500
So, $800,000 divided by Hagar, Ed, Al and Mike = $200,000 each.
$437,500 divided by Roth = $437,500 for Roth.
So, tell us, oh supreme newsgroup idiot, did Roth make twice as much
money as the avg person in the Van Hagar reunion or was it donated to
charity?
Take your pick, makes absolutely no difference, either fucking way -
Dave comes out on top, you mentally challenged moron!
Only idiots base what a concert costs and doesn't take into account
how many people attend.
Bwahahahahahaha!
That's why we love - you give us someone to bash on a daily basis and
that's why we keep coming back.
Meanwhile, you idiot, you could have caught Sammy Hagar in the park
(yes, next to where bums take a leak against the trees), for fuckin'
absolutely FREE with the world famous Wavy Gravy.
That was a smooth, classic snippety-snip by Rushgedlife.

Thank you for that, Rush!

First of all, there were only 200K.
Tickets were $5 ($7 at the gate).
Kids under 11 were free.
There were dozens of other bands, children's entertainers, fireworks,
etc.
Many people pay the entrance fee and don't see any bands. The fee
covers a lot of other expenses (bands, fireworks, children's
entertainment, etc.).

Although Hagar plays a lot of benefits (he played one in Santa Rosa for
children and a Hurricane Katrina benefit last year), he didn't play
this one in Golden Gate Park (AFAIK).
Not that there would be anything wrong with it. He's from the Bay area
and is friends with a lot of those people.
Now you've got a hard on for Wavy Gravy (you've mentioned him 4-5 times

And guess what, genius, the avg Van Hagar ticket wasn't $100 like I
said, either. I also didn't take into consideration the slashed ticket
prices, the food vouchers and the free parking they were giving away
at the Van Hagar tragedy (which sold out only 4 shows). I also didn't

Wrong again, dumbass. sandman89 was at the show.
Roth was paid a flat fee. I would guess maybe in the 15-25K range.
Source?
>Source?
Get a clue.
It's a "Ribfest".
It's not the "Naperville Benefit Concert for Sick Children".
People go for the ribs, the rides, the music, the fireworks, etc.
The fest organizers have a budget (for music, fireworks, etc.) and
whatever's left over they give to charity (since they're a
nonprofit/volunteer/charity organization).
The rib vendors make money, the bands make money, the people who
provide the carny rides make money, the people who provide the
fireworks make money, etc. It's just a paying gig for these people.
It's not a benefit where the ribs are donated, the bands are donated,
the rides are donated, the fireworks are donated, etc.
Each year the organizers have to decide how much they can afford for
music, who will provide the biggest bang for the buck, who's available,
etc.
This year it looks like it's the Doobie Brothers, Charlie Daniels Band
and Three Dog Night so far. They're not playing for free either.
These type of events go on all over the country all summer long.
You won't find anything on their website thanking the bands for
donating their time for free.
You won't find any articles in the newspapers before the event thanking
the artists for donating their time for free.
You won't find any articles in the newspapers after the event thanking
the artists for donating their time for free.
Because they're not. They're part of the paid entertainment who event
organizers hope will help attract customers to cover their expenses. In
this case, there's a built-in crowd of about 250K who show up over the
4 day event every year. Last year's crowd was a disappointing 200K
(mostly weather related).

That makes things even worse! He knew 250,000 people show up at one of
these things and didn't know that at $7 a head plus tons of ribs sold
equals millions of dollars? Why would he act like it was embarrassing,
especially when Ted Nugent, Cheap trick and other bands play there?
You guys are fucked up in the head.
>Roth was paid a flat fee. I would guess maybe in the 15-25K range.
You're an idiot with no clue, and that's not a guess.
You'd be the last person in the world I'd have trust in a guess about
what Roth made. Geez, you're only the anti-Roth on an obsessed mission
to make the world believe Roth didn't make much money on this thing.
Why do you care so fucking much and are so adamant to jump to
conclusions that he didn't make much money? At a charity concert for
Christ's sake!
Meanwhile, you have a hissy fit when Howard Stern, NY Daily Post and
others put Roth at making 4 million for his radio show and yet we are
supposed to believe your 'guess', a guy who dedicates his life to
spinning and clipping Roth articles to make him look bad?
Thanks again for that Rush, I got my fix for the day.

Ribfest according to Rushtolie's lies:
Naperville Exchange Club's Ribfest: It's about making money
The proceeds from this event will go to rock bands, firreworks and rib
vendors. If we have anything left over, we'll throw a bone to some
childrens charity, after all, it is about the ribs, the rides, the
music, and the fireworks.
...and the truth, according to Ribfest:
Naperville Exchange Club's Ribfest: It's about Kids
The proceeds from this event will continue the fight against child
abuse and domestic violence. Additionally, Ribfest revenues support
various youth programs, community service projects and events
promoting Americanism.

Pigging out still popular
Estimated 200,000 took in Ribfest despite weather hiccups
By Ron Pazola - Naperville Sun
July 6, 2005
Ribfest did it again. The four-day celebration at Knoch Park in
Naperville drew sizable crowds and concession sales.
Ribfest spokesman Mike McManus said about 200,000 people showed up for
the festival. Attendance was lower Monday because of the threat of
thunderstorms, he said.
At 2 p.m. Monday, the park was closed for 45 minutes after lightning
was seen in the sky.
"Whenever we close the park, we're concerned that some people may not
come back to the event," McManus said.
Although thunderstorms never materialized, a light, intermittent rain
fell during much of Monday afternoon. However, the weather was dry and
pleasant during most of the festival, with Friday evening characterized
by cooler temperatures.
McManus said a preliminary count of Ribfest's proceeds won't be done
until later this week, but he expects the money raised to match or
exceed last year's amount. In 2004, Ribfest collected about $700,000 to
fight child abuse.
The crowds were well-behaved. Naperville police spokesman Sgt. Joel
Truemper said there were no serious crimes or incidents during Ribfest.
The 18 rib vendors traveled from all over the world, including
Australia, Florida, Ohio and Texas.
There were also 22 auxiliary vendors that sold beverages, as well as
hot dogs, ice cream, cheesecake and other food items.
About 3,500 volunteers helped out at Ribfest.
The event's popularity is reflected by the distances people travel for
the festival. Although most festivalgoers are from the western suburbs,
people as far away as Dallas and San Francisco attended the festival,
McManus said.
Big-name acts such as Loretta Lynn, Ted Nugent and Blue Oyster Cult
helped attract people, and crowds also flocked to see the 25-minute
fireworks display Monday night.
"We weren't too concerned about whether the fireworks display would go
on because the weather forecasts showed the storms had cleared the
area," said Gary Foiles, Naperville Park District program manager. "In
fact, by the time the fireworks started, it was a pretty nice evening
outside."
Fireworks by Melrose Pyrotechnics, which has conducted the display for
a number of years, were computer-choreographed with music provided by
radio station WERV-FM 95.9.
McManus said the park should be cleaned no later than Thursday.
"Cleaning up after Ribfest is always a big job," he said. "Volunteers
have to pick up all the litter, take down tents and restore the park to
the way it was before Ribfest."
The 18th annual July Fourth festival was sponsored by the Naperville
Exchange Club in cooperation with the Naperville Park District and the
city of Naperville.
"We're already planning next year's Ribfest," McManus said.

Ribs? What ribs? Kids say the rides are where it's at
By Ann Hanson - Naperville Sun
July 3, 2005
There are face painters.
There are climbing walls.
There are inflatable playgrounds.
At Ribfest, kids have an entire section dedicated to entertaining them
in new and exciting ways, and yet, one familiar attraction that remains
their favorite.
"Rides," said 8-year-old Quint Goudeau of Oswego.
"They're big ride kids," Naperville resident Kristi Olson said about
her kids, Devon, 10, and Rowan, 7.
"We like to eat ribs and the kids like the carnival," said Hoffman
Estates resident Claire Cinnema, who has two kids, Jake, 5, and Carly,
3.
The carnival featured the typical assortment of swinging and spinning
contraptions, flashing lights and loud music. Although there was no
"Tower of Terror," the Disney ride that Quint described as "the
favorite ride in the whole world," the selection at Ribfest was plenty
to keep him satisfied.
This year, Ribfest has an expanded family area that includes a
mechanical riding bull and circus education classes to learn
stilt-walking and juggling, among other skills. The petting zoo and
Little Tykes play area are staples.
Three-and-a-half-year-old Haley Prell of Aurora was making her debut as
a Hula-Hooper outside the hands-on activity tent. Her efforts were
valiant, if not successful.
"She has zero skill," said her dad, Allen Prell.
Her mom, Jill, said her technique needs improvement.
"She just stands there and lets it fall," Jill said.
The ribs, however, were not to be ignored.
"What else do you come for," asked Erik Olson, whose kids Devon and
Rowan were there for the rides.
Nine-year-old Grace Soltys of Naperville preferred a hybrid of the two.
"Usually, I'm just junked up on a lot of food, drink a lot of lemonade,
then go on the rides," she said.
Her brother, 11-year-old Taylor, was in a league of his own.
"I like the bands," he said.
Taylor, quite possibly the youngest Blue Oyster Cult fan in the world,
came with his dad and sister to set up their chairs in front of the
Brian R. Schultz stage in preparation for the band's evening
performance six hours later.
Taylor credits his dad, Ted, with steering him in the direction of
classic rock. Last year, they were at Ribfest when Lynyrd Skynyrd
played.
"My dad, he's big on the music like that," he said. "He likes the older
bands."
While Grace professed to "mostly" liking just the ribs and rides, her
dad spilled her secret: She, too, is a closet classic rock fan.
"She comes to the bands and dances all night," Ted said.
Tell us with a serious face that Roth hasn't ruined your life.
>Too bad WebTV Kid didn't know you can't

Maybe not, Keef and Chuckie *want* to believe so badly that Roth plays
the rib joints for free.
Donating his time for the little sick children. LOL
Anyway, Naperville has another festival at the end of the summer, The
Last Fling.
Like Ribfest (and most fests around the country), it's run by
volunteers and the proceeds are donated to charity.
This doesn't mean that the bands play for free.
And I quote:
"you must figure out your budget and what bands you want to go after"
"DeGroh uses the site (Pollstar) to see which bands are in the Midwest
around Labor Day, making it easier - and sometimes cheaper - for them
to play the Last Fling."
The organizations donate *their* proceeds to charity *after* the bands
have been paid.
See how it works dumbass?
=====
The Last Fling is sponsored by the Naperville Jaycees with the support
of the City of Naperville and the Naperville Park District. Proceeds
from the Last Fling benefit local charities and organizations
=====
The Last Fling - a farewell to summer also thrown each year in
Naperville -understands the importance of a musical lineup. For years,
organizers have had great success mixing national names and local
bands.
The key, organizers say, is doing your homework.
First, you must figure out your budget and what bands you want to go
after, says Marie deGroh, who helped secure the popular festival's acts
for 10 years.
In 2005, for example, the festival hosted Collective Soul, Big Head
Todd & The Monsters, Cowboy Mouth and Kansas on the main stage. The
acts appealed to festival-goers in their late-20s and early-30s, the
organizers' target audience.
She also relies upon Pollstar, a concert database on the Internet that
she describes as an invaluable tool. DeGroh uses the site to see which
bands are in the Midwest around Labor Day, making it easier - and
sometimes cheaper - for them to play the Last Fling.

What you stopped posting links again?
Anyway, you've put the final nail in your coffin:

So, Mr. Rushtolie, lets say even the 125,000 did pay the $5, which you
say they did not and is a high estimate (remember the biggest day is
*free*) -
125,000 x $5 = $625,000
>he expects the money raised to match or
>exceed last year's amount. In 2004, Ribfest collected about $700,000 to

So, somehow after only grossing $625,000, Ribfest had enough money to
pay all the bands, fireworks and ribs and STILL managed to donate and
EXCEED the $700,000 to charity from the year before??
CHECK AND MATE, MOTHERFUCKER!
By your own evidence, by your own ignorant post - you proved Roth
donated his time for charity.
Buh-bye, Mr. Rushtolie, don't hit your head on the way out, you dizzy
bitch.

That you're a complete dumbass? Yep it does.
Read the following. Not a thing about what Roth made. Totally useless
info and spun by Rushtolie, who continues to have his panties in a
bunch over a charity show.
One thing it does prove is that you and your buttbuddy in obsession,
the WebTV Kid, were wrong about it being only a "Ribfest".
It's actually a pretty big rock festival. See, shit-for-brains, which
ever way you spin it, you make an ass of yourself.
So, did Roth donate his time to charity or did he make a sizbale fee
at a huge festival? Take your pic.
Sure, Roth hasn't ruined your life, we believe you!

You really are dumb as a stump.
Do you have any experience in the real world?
Ticket sales aren't the *only* revenue for events like these, dumbass.
The vendors have to pay a fee to set up each day. Ribfest doesn't buy
the ribs. LOL
There are dozens of sponsors who donate up to $75K to the event.
So do you have a source or not?
If you don't, then you are just guessing.
And nobody here has any reason to trust your judgment.
On May 25 of last year, Rushgedlife wrote this in response to Hagar playing
benefits: "Definitely a class act. Hagar's always playing benefits and
putting on free shows for good causes, as well as his fans."
This week, he wrote this in response to Roth playing a benefit: "Donating
his time for the little sick children. LOL"
This is what Rushgedlife wrote in response to Roth VOLUNTEERING as an EMT:
"I think he's trying to pad his resume in a desperate attempt to land a
reality show."
So according to Rushgedlife, when Hagar plays benefits or donates his time
for free, he is a "class act".
But when Roth does it, it is laughable. Nothing about him being a "class
act". Once again:
Hypocrisy on line 1!
Hypocrisy on line 1!
Hypocrisy on line 1!
It's actually a pretty big rock festival.
***when did they start naming "pretty big rock festivals" after
ribfests?! that's brilliant marketing!

How come your webtv never lets me quote you correctly?
Did you catch Rollins on his casino, university and city hall tour?
Rushgedhadley is sore and pissed off Eddies career is over so he will say
and do anything to make Roth look bad.
Who else would scan the news for years looking up stories about someone they
hate so much?
Either that or he has a secret passion for being flamed and made fun of, i
think his mother whipped him a s aboy and he gets sexually aroused by all
this. You are his mother in his eyes
