Man, how things have changed.
Yep, Rushtolife will cry, because these aren't paid critics, but
remember this is the guy who thought we would be interested in what they
thought of Van Hagar in, what was it, the Iron Maiden forum?
Anyway, for starters, here's Tube Tramp, who says he is Terry Kilgore,
one of Ed's lifelong buddies. The guy who continually slammed Dave after
Dave gave him his 15 minutes, is now finally seeing the light about
Eddie.
Here is what he said:

im sorry im sellin my free ticks im not going to watch a wino old town
pasadena has many homeless people the play guitar with alot more verve
and a hell of alot cleaner.this makes me sad and i do not feel good
about it at all, some folks might revel in this but its tragic hes such
a fine innovative technician what the sam hill happened/? and you guys
say that hes doing this in more than one venue.....holy horses patook
money changes everthing...for better and sometimes worse hunger is the
key with inspiration also i know ed and hes boiled there sure as a cat

i have access all areas and i think id be to embarrassed to talk to
him.im dumbfounded by this i knew he was lagging but this is a horrible
decline this is not the guy i grew up with i havent really played out
live alot in 2 years due to the crappy money and dismal gig thing but i
will tell you this if i played like that even once live my confederates
would chew my ass into feathers .i am a bluntly honest person as you all
may know.i havent got alot of understanding for sluffers on the
guitar.in my whole life i never played that stupid or sloppy i knew who
i was up against and i respected that.no one was going to catch me with
my shorts over my head.this clownish clip that i have just seen is like
a nightmare come to reality.it strikes me that he just doesnt care
anymore at all.and thats sad because hes as billy sez a guitar hero.im
just an old seargent in the trenches and a fair hand but i would throw
the guitar away if i approached it even once like this true i dont play
6 hours a day anymore.it would be a waste of time but i feel big pains
if i think im slippin or sloppin its part of my pride as anyother
guitarist and you all feel the same i hope .edward is treating like a
old joke and i aint laughin.if clapton or hendrix or beck did this we a
shot em.what really bugs me is that half the tin ears out there prolly
think its great.it reminds me very much of jimmy page after
presence.night and day good and crap.it isnt that tough to uphold your
chops.and it appears that he does not give a damn about it so why should
anyone else...goodnight sweet prince but as dylan thomas said . i will
not go gently into that goodnight ....advice guys fight like hell to
survive fight like hell for tone and fight like hell never to display
that kind of rubbish when you could do 69999999999999
better......................im goin and im going to see if old gramps
can light a fire under his bony little ass...prolly get bounced right
out of the place....ah well wouldnt be the first time..............tt
Though it looks like it's written by someone with a third grade
education, I'm getting the impression that he hasn't even seen the
show yet, just a clip or some such thing? Does Kilgore post there a
lot? And do his posts always look like he's typing with all his
fingers duct taped together? Or maybe the formatting is all fucked up
because you cut and pasted it. I hope it's the latter.

"I won't tour on a greatest hits record, that's like basically saying, we're
over. Wasted. Biggest waste of time in the world. Strictly money."
-Sammy Hagar, 1996
He's basing it on videos he has seen of the show. Having grown up with
Ed and being a guitarist, he should be able to pick up on any lost
skills. It seems he did just that. And the weird thing is, before the
tour hit, he was all in Ed and Al's corner. So it's not like he has an
axe to grind like he does with Roth. Or maybe it's like he says that he
is just a brutally honest person.
Either way, there seems to be a trend where many diehard Ed fans are
seeing the light this tour and have come to realize this cat isn't what
he used to be and he is now the weak link in the band. It's like Ed said
at NAMM, he's been playing cello and keyboards, not guitar. I doubt he
can ever get it back unless he has a leader in the band again like he
did with Roth in the early days.

Well thanks for posting it, anyway. Makes for interesting reading,
that's for sure. I gave Ed a little slack, I admit, considering he'd
only been on tour for a few weeks and had been inactive for many
years. But I still only counted about 3, maybe 4 fuckups in the early
songs. After that he was pretty much spot on. Whatever's going on as
this tour progresses (booze, drugs, whatever), it seems a lot of
others aren't happy and he's fucking up even more. Not a good thing.
I'm glad I saw them when I did.
