Does anyone out there have firsthand experience with having a horn frozen by
the Brass Bow? (www.brassbow.com)

I have an Olds Recorder which seems to have more resistance than an
Ambassador which I play very often.

I would like to improve the response and read an article about the above
company.

Some well known jazz artists have used this firm with good results.

Any comments?

The Brass bow is a highly respected shop nationally. I haven't had a
horn frozen there, but I did stop by the shop a couple months ago to
check out the process. They run a batch of horns starting every
Monday. The machine is about the size of one of those horizontal
freezers some folks keep in their garage. They can do several
instruments per batch, and they seem to have plenty of demand for the
service. When I was there, the first opening was about a month out.

FWIW, I have never had any cryo work done, but their ultrasonic
cleaning is top-notch. I had my 1940 King 2B ultracleaned + had a
couple tuning slide dents removed and the hand slide aligned, all for
JUST under $100. The Brass Bow is about 30 minuted away from where I
work, too--another plus :)

They do everything on waiting lists, and it's generally 3-6 weeks.
They do a great job and are apparently in demand.
