The cause may not be the same, but I had a similar thing happen on a
Yamaha horn. One of the braces on the bell section was a little bit loose
in its socket and vibrated, especially on the higher notes. If it was
pressed firmly into the socket the buzz would stop until it worked itself
loose again.

I had the same problem once, and it turned out, believe it or not, to be a
filling in one of my teeth! It had apparently worked it's way loose, and
certain frequencies set it off.

My teacher and I had many fun hours trying to track that one down...

It could be a loose piece of solder in one of the braces, in which case you
would need to track down which one and get a competent repairer to take the
brace apart and release the offending piece of solder. It could also be a
loose bell rim wire. Conn do not solder their rim wires (like Bach and
Yamaha) so it might have worked slightly loose. You could try rubbing in
some wax around the wire - however doing so might change the playing
characteristics of the instrument - making it slightly more focused or
direct (like a Bach).

I have an oldish (1975) King 3BF. It has a very tiny ball of solder inside the
bell brace. It bothered me for a while, but I don't hear it any more.
Apparently, it's not audible to any listeners. I don't have the nerve to have
the bell brace taken off and put on again just to remove the solder.

I'll be sure to try that on MY Conn, which has been suffering the same
symptoms, only on High Gb, which turned into quite an annoyance when playing
an audition on the Morceau Symphonique.

Lubricate (rotor oil) the rotor valve. That is the most common problem
of buzzing that I have found on f-attachment horns. Put a few drops
down the tube where you attach the slide, and down both sides of the f
tuning slide as you work the valve.

If the return-spring is close to losing it's "pre-load" in the "at-rest"
position, it can be free to sing & dance around at the spring's frequency of
resonance...see if the same buzz happens on the same Eb using T-1 position. If
not, this may be IT!
Also, try this same note in 3rd pos., slightly depressing the trigger - noy
enough to move the rotor.
The spring's "rate" can be increased fairly easily by an experienced repair
guy, by flexing the spring a little.

Actually, my Conn is a fairly recent one, 3 years old, and does not have the
return spring, much to my annoyance.
