I was listening to K-Rock (NY) and they had just played a Limp Bizkit song.
After the terror, the DJ gets on and talks about Virtual Magazine (I
think?), a mag only stations get. He mentions an interview with Maynard.
The interviewer mentions comments, in which Fred Durst talks about TOOL:
"Tool is like one of my favorite bands," Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst
told MTV News in an earlier interview. "I mean, they are beyond a doubt one
of the best bands in the world. Whether you like them or not, you just can't
help but respect what they're doing. It's phenomenal. They take you on a
journey with every song, and it seems like it's perfect, you know? I really
believe that when he says he sold his soul to make a record. They're out
there. Something happened to those guys. They're special. There's something
about that band."

Speaking specifically about the appeals of Tool, Durst raved, "Tool is the
chills and the sound. I mean, they don't do anything but stand there.
Maynard does a couple weird kicks with his foot, and you're just like, 'Oh
my God.' You can't believe it. I'm really, really impressed by Tool since
'Opiate.' It touches me hard. I listen to what he says, and I believe in
God, (Maynard) obviously doesn't. He has a problem with the religion thing,
the organized religion thing. I don't think that I'm really into organized
religion. I believe in God, but everything he says makes sense. You listen
to his words, and you're like, 'Holy s**t, how did you write that song?' And
he sings in ways that... like you can hear the influence of Maynard in the
(Limp Bizkit) song 'Nobody Loves Me' in the middle, in the break-down in the
middle. I actually copied the way he sings."

Maynard started bashing Limp Bizkit, it was hysterical. I'm sorry, but I
don't have the greatest memory, so I don't remember exactly what he said.
It was basically to the effect that Durst shouldn't have been mentioned and
that his opinion doesn't matter. He said Durst sounded like he was a little
kid (something like that), and used a lunch lady analogy. He compares him
to a lunch lady, who had just won the lottery and can't shut up about
it...no one gives a shit. It was really great. I just gained even more
respect for Maynard. Later, Maynard mentions how alot of bands' albums went
down hill after the first three, except for Zeppelin, The Beatles, and the
Rolling Stones. He says that he was a little bit worried about Lateralus.

IF ANYONE HAS THIS INTERVIEW, I'D BE HIGHLY INTERESTED IN SEEING IT.
THANKS!!

Love you all,

Ryan

I'm sorry, but I posted the wrong interview with Fred Durst, although it's
pretty similar. He did say something like that he hates Tool because
they're the best band and all this shit.

Sorry about that guys...

I heard that, it was hilarious! I don't remember the name of the mag,
though. The interviewer was like, "I read this interview with Fred", and
Maynard's reply was something to the effect of "Why would you do that?"
Then, he goes into what Fred said (all those compliments) and Maynard says
something about a trucker and some kid, and then says something like "It's
like getting endorsed by the woman selling fucking jello in the school
cafeteria"... lol, he used the f-word quite a lot, which made it even
funnier. I'd love to have those quotes... he said that Fred's opinion
doesn't matter, then went on to say that they (the band) don't know anything
that can't be learned, etc. I hope someone wrote some of it down, it's like
that plywood comment by Trent, lol...

Remember when the highly talented Trent Reznor dissed Fred Durst a while back
and poor pissed off Durst "sung" a "song" about how much Reznor sucked on their
new album? Wouldn't it be funny if Durst "writes" a "song" about how much he
wants to kick Maynard's ass on their next "album"? And I'm sure there will be
a new Limp Bizkit offering in the next few months seeing how it seems like they
and all the other pop groups release new "albums" semi-annually....

I heard on MTV News that Durst actually freaked the fuck out before they
played the Rock Am Ring Festival. why? because someone told him,
Eminem disses him on the new D12 album/single/whatever!
PTR.

anyone else remember his "imaginary-high-five" at lat years VMA?
he was ready to slap Eminems hand but he was to busy high-fiving Carson
and ignored him! hilarious! just let him standing there...

You can't help but feel sorry for him sometimes. I mean, he tries so
hard to please everyone and makes friends by kissing ass, that people
wind-up holding contempt for him.

Here's somwething I posted in a few, "applicable" newsgroups a week ago:

Well thank god Fred Durst has moved on since then and with obvious
reason via media slandering. But you can't teach an old, networking dog
new tricks. Two favorites of mine, Tool and Radiohead, have been
highlighted by Durst in interviews as major inspiration. [gags] It's
obvious that this man is out to latch onto and exploit whatever talent
and progress he can, even if it is nowhere near Limp Bizkit's
low-caliber sound (look at this guy's lyrics, what he sings and the
repetition his band creates and compare it to Nine Inch Nails,
Radiohead, Pink Floyd and Tool -- it's a fucking joke!).

What's sad is that these attachments are going to keep Bizkit afloat --
whereas most Pop bands burnout, they won't -- which wouldn't be that big
of a deal (I don't mind them so much; like their old stuff) if it wasn't
for some cocky lead singer who doesn't know when to shut the fuck up. I
mean, why the fuck does he even talk?! Durst has got nothing to say!
His music is enough of an example. And he has no power, even though
Durst wears his Interscope VP badge and networks like the fucking media
whore he is.

I'm so sick of this guy (again, let me highlight that I wouldn't mind
him if he would just *shut the fuck up*). ...

"I'm here for longevity. I'm not here to make a statement. I'm here to
make timeless music." (Durst, right before the NME interviewer
burst-out laughing)

"Fred Durst can surf a piece of plywood right up my ass." (Trent
Reznor)

"This song is dedicated to Trent Reznor." (Durst, before the song
"Break Stuff")

"Fred probably needed help spelling 'break'." (Reznor)

"Tool is like one of my favorite bands. I mean, they are beyond a doubt

one of the best bands in the world. Whether you like them or not, you
just can't help but respect what they're doing. It's phenomenal. They
take you on a journey with every song, and it seems like it's perfect,

you know? ... Tool is the chills and the sound. ... You listen to
[Maynard's words] words, and you're like, 'Holy shit, how did you write
that song?' And he sings in ways that ... like you can hear the
influence of Maynard in the song 'Nobody Loves Me' in the middle, in the

"It's like getting endorsed by the woman selling fucking jello in the

school cafeteria, who has just won the lottery and can't shut up about
it ... No one gives a shit!" (Maynard Keenan)

Lol, I almost feel sorry for Durst too. Can you imagine getting completely
insulted by your favorite bands? Man that would really bother me. Oh well,
like I said... "almost".
